Short answers to the questions that come up most about Deal Room Templates, including what to check when a template is missing.
ℹ️ Deal Room Templates are not the same as content templates. A Deal Room Template is a whole room you start from. A content template is a single piece of content you build inside a room. For content templates, see Use and create templates.
1. Using a template
These are the questions reps ask in their first week.

2. Creating a template
Creating is open to everyone, but what happens afterwards depends on your role.

3. Visibility and permissions
Most "I cannot see it" questions are answered by this table.

| Can Experts and Viewers manage their own templates? | Yes. They can edit, clone, archive and restore their own templates |
4. Spekit templates
Spekit templates give every company something to start from on day 1.

| Can I edit one? | Not directly. Clone it and edit the copy. Anyone can clone a Spekit template |
| Can we hide them? | Account Admins can archive any Spekit template for the whole company, and restore it later. Team Admins cannot |
| Can I archive my own clone of a Spekit template? | Yes. You can archive and restore any template you created, whatever your role |
| What if all of them are archived? | The tab shows that no templates are available, with a Create a template button. Account Admins also see an option to restore them |
5. A template is missing
Work through these in order. The first 2 cover most cases.

| Is it still a draft? | Drafts never appear when you create a deal room. Only the people who can edit it see it |
| Does it have an audience? | An admin template cannot publish without one. If it published to other teams, you will not see it |
| Are you filtering the list? | Clear the Audience, Owner and Publish state filters on the Templates tab |
| Was it archived? | Check the Archived tab. Templates are archived, not deleted |
| Is it someone else's private template? | Templates created by Experts and Viewers are visible only to them |
| Does the room already have content? | You can only apply a template while a room is blank |
💡 Pro Tip: If a rep says a template vanished, check Publish state first. An admin editing a published template is the most common cause.
