Starting from a template gives you a room that already has the right sections and content for the deal. You personalize it instead of building it.
ℹ️ You can start from a template whether or not your admin has published any. Every company gets ready-made Spekit templates by default.
ℹ️ Deal Room Templates are available in the Spekit Hub (Web App) today. Support in the Sidekick (Chrome Extension) and Spekit MCP is coming soon.
1. Start from New Deal Room
- Open the Spekit Hub (Web App) and go to Deal Rooms.
- Select + New Deal Room.
- Choose Start with a template. To skip templates, choose Start from scratch instead.
- In the Select a template window, find the one you want and select Use template.
- In Create new Deal Room, fill in Deal or Account Name and Deal Room name. Both are required.
- Check your settings on the Branding and Notifications tabs if you need them.
- Select Create Deal Room.
2. Start from the Deal Rooms page
The Deal Rooms page has a Start with a template section near the top. It shows templates you can use right away, including Spekit templates.
Select Use template on a card to go straight to Create new Deal Room.
To browse the full list instead, open the Templates tab. It sits between Shared with me and Archived.
3. Preview a template first
Select Preview on any template card to open it as a full page. The preview shows the header, the sections and the content you would inherit.
From the preview you can select Use template in the top right to start a room, or ← Templates to go back.
💡 Pro Tip: Preview before you commit. It is quicker than creating a room and undoing it.
4. Change or remove the template while you create
The Create new Deal Room window shows the template you picked under Template.
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Change template | Reopens the picker so you can choose a different one |
| Remove | Drops the template and creates a blank room instead |
5. Find the right template
The Templates tab and the template picker both have a search box and a sort control.
The Templates tab adds 3 filters.
| Filter | What it narrows by |
|---|---|
| Audience | The teams a template is published to |
| Owner | Who created the template |
| Publish state | Draft or Published |
ℹ️ Drafts never appear when you create a deal room. If a template shows as Draft, the owner has not published it yet.
6. Apply a template to a blank deal room
If you already created a room and it is still empty, you can still use a template.
- Open the blank deal room.
- Select Use template, beside Add Content.
- Pick the template you want.
ℹ️ This only works while the room is empty. Once a deal room has content, its template cannot be changed.
7. What carries over
Everything the template holds comes with it, except the access settings.
| Item | What happens |
|---|---|
| Header image and header text | Carry over |
| Sections | Carry over as built |
| Content and featured content | Carry over |
| Internal content | Carries over |
| Access controls | Do not carry over. You set these when you create the room |
Your new room is an independent copy. Editing it never changes the template, and the template owner does not see your edits.
8. Best practices
A template saves time only if you still make the room feel built for this buyer.
| Best practice | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Pick the template before you add anything | You cannot switch templates once the room has content |
| Preview first | You see the sections and content before you commit to them |
| Check every section before you share | The template was built for a motion, not for this specific buyer |
| Tell your admin what is missing | Admins publish the templates. If the right one does not exist, they can build it |
