User Preferences & Extension Settings
Can I change Speks to open by clicking rather than hovering?
✅ Yes.You can choose whether Speks open when you hover over them or when you click the help text icon.
How do I enable or disable “Show help text on hover” in the Chrome Extension?
Click the Spekit icon to open the Chrome Extension.
Click on additional settings (...), and select Settings.
Toggle Show Spek on hover on or off.
Spek Labels & Content Structure
Can Speks have the same label in different Teams or Topics?
✅ Yes.Speks can have duplicate labels across different Teams or Topics.
Are duplicate Spek labels allowed across Teams?
✅ Yes.Duplicate labels are supported and commonly used when different Teams need similar terminology documented separately.
Visibility Controls (Hide & Unhide Speks)
Who can hide or unhide Speks in Spekit?
Only Account Admins and Team Admins can hide or show Speks, fields, or terms.
How do I hide a single Spek?
Open the Spek.
Click the ellipsis (… ).
Click ellipsis (… ) or Bulk actions, and select Show.
How do I unhide a hidden Spek?
Open the Topic where the Spek lives.
Click the funnel icon to open filters.
Open the status filters, and toggle on Include hidden content.
Click Apply filters.
Open the hidden Spek.
Click ellipsis (… ) or Bulk actions, and select Show.
How do I view hidden Speks in a Topic?
Open the Topic where the Spek lives.
Click the funnel icon to open filters.
Open the status filters, and toggle on Include hidden content.
Click Apply filters.
Can I hide multiple Speks at once?
✅ Yes.In List view, select multiple Speks and use Bulk Actions → Hide.
Can I show multiple Speks at once?
✅ Yes.After filtering for hidden Speks, select multiple Speks and use Bulk Actions → Show.
Can I hide or show Speks from both Wiki and List views?
✅ Yes.Bulk hide and unhide actions are supported in both views.
Expert Assignment & Ownership
How to assign an Expert to a single Spek
Open the Spek.
Click Edit.
Select an Expert in the Expert field.
Click Save.
How to assign an Expert to multiple Speks
Select multiple Speks (Dictionary or Wiki view).
Click Bulk Actions → Assign Expert.
Select the Expert.
Click Assign.
How to bulk assign Speks to an Expert from a Topic
Open a Topic.
Select all or individual Speks.
Click Bulk Actions → Assign Expert.
Choose the Expert and click Assign.
What happens when an Expert is deactivated?
The deactivated user remains listed as the Expert. An Account Admin can bulk reassign a new Expert.
Where can I see which Expert is assigned to a Spek?
In List view, toggle the Expert column on to display assigned Experts.
Bulk Hiding Undefined Field Speks
Why would I bulk hide undefined field Speks?
This helps clean up unused Salesforce fields that your organization does not plan to document or use.
How do I bulk hide undefined field Speks by Salesforce object?
Open the Team Hub and then to Content → List View.
Open Filters, open Spek type filter, and select Salesforce Object.
Click Apply filters.
Locate the Salesforce object.
Click Fields (#).
Select undefined field Speks → Bulk Actions → Hide Speks.
How do I bulk hide undefined field Speks using filters?
Open the Team Hub and then to Content → List View.
Open Filters, open Status filter, and toggle on Only show undocumented content.
Click Apply filters.
Select Speks → Bulk Actions → Hide Speks.
Can I use Bulk Actions to hide multiple field Speks at once?
✅ Yes.Bulk Actions fully support hiding multiple undefined field Speks.
Favorites & Personal Collections
How do users save content to My Favorites?
Users can click the star icon on a piece of content to save it.
How do I access My Favorites (My Starred Speks)?
Open the Spekit Chrome Extension.
Click My Hub.
Click My Favorites.
Notifications & Team Communication
What is the “Notify my Team” feature?
When creating a Spek, you can notify your Team via:
In-app notification
Email
Spotlight
How to view notifications
Open the Spekit Chrome Extension.
Click the bell icon to view unread alerts.
Notifications take users directly to the Spek.
Unviewed notifications will highlighted and have a dot to the right of them.
Analytics for notifications
From a Spek, open Analytics to see who viewed it.
Analytics can be filtered by Team.
Mark as Read vs. Viewed
How does Mark as Read work?
Mark as Read helps users track which Speks they’ve intentionally reviewed.
Key behaviors:
Appears on all Speks
Cannot be marked Unread
Remains Read even if the Spek is edited
No progress bar or filter for Read/Unread
Read Speks are shown individually, not in a central list
Can a Spek be marked as Unread?
❌ No. At this time, once marked as Read, it cannot be undone.
Does editing a Spek reset its Read status?
❌ No. At this time, the Spek remains marked as Read even after edits.
Can users view all Read Speks in one place?
❌ No. At this time, read status is shown on a Spek-by-Spek basis only.
How is Mark as Read different from Viewed?
Viewed is passive. Mark as Read is an intentional action indicating the user has reviewed the content.
Reactions, Feedback & Data Retention
Who can remove a reaction from a Spek?
Only the user who added the reaction can remove it.
Can Admins or Experts remove reactions added by users?
❌ No. Admins and Experts cannot remove reactions created by other users.
What happens to reactions and feedback when a user is deleted?
All reactions and feedback from the deleted user are removed and no longer appear on the Spek or in analytics.
Are deleted users’ reactions removed from analytics and Speks?
✅ Yes.They are fully removed from view across the product.
