Build a piece of content once and reuse it everywhere it belongs. You can nest another Spek's live content inside a Spek, or link to it. Nested content and link titles stay current on their own, so there are no copies to track down.
1. What is Content Linking?
Content linking allows you to connect different pieces of knowledge, such as Speks, to create an interconnected web of information. This functionality helps eliminate the need for manual tagging and rigid folder structures, enabling a more dynamic and discoverable knowledge ecosystem.
Key Aspects of Content Linking
Dynamic Updates: When you link content, the system can automatically identify related information that may need updates, helping to propagate changes throughout your workspace and reduce the risk of outdated or conflicting information.
Enhanced Discoverability: By linking related resources — such as connecting a product feature to its specific training materials, competitor comparisons, and customer testimonials — enablement teams can ensure that relevant content is easily found exactly when it is needed.
Dynamic Links: As of August 2026, Spekit has enhanced content linking with Dynamic Links. Linked titles now stay in sync with the source automatically, and hovering over a link shows a quick preview of the source Spek.
2. What is Nesting?
Nesting lets you embed a source Spek's live content inside another Spek. The nested content pulls straight from the source. Update the source once and every place it is nested shows the change right away. There are no copies to update.
3. How Is Nesting Different from Linking?
# Content Linking | @ Content Nesting (Linked Spek) |
|---|---|
| How to trigger Type # followed by at least 3 characters of the content name. | How to trigger Type @ — search results (including recently viewed content) appear immediately, no minimum characters needed. |
| What gets inserted A standard text link (Dynamic Link). Its display title stays synced with the source automatically. | What gets inserted A linked content chip that stays connected to the source. Its title and details refresh automatically to match the source content. |
| Stays up to date? Yes — the link's display title automatically syncs with the source. Only the title updates; the full content is not shown inline, so you still click through to view it. | Stays up to date? Yes — the chip always reflects the current title of the source content. If the source is deleted or you lose access, it shows as unavailable. |
| Preview Hover preview — hover over the link to see a quick preview of the source Spek without navigating away. | Preview Full live preview — the source content renders inline on the page, not just a hover preview. |
| Opening the linked content Click the link directly to navigate to it. Applicable to both Preview and Edit mode. | Opening the linked content Use the "Open in new tab" option from the chip's toolbar. Only applicable to Edit mode. |
| Supported content Any searchable content: Speks and all types of files. | Supported content Same content types as # linking. |
| Best for Quick references where you want the link title to stay accurate, without embedding the full content inline. | Best for References to content that changes often, where you want readers to see the full, current content directly inline. |
A link sends the viewer to another Spek, with its title kept in sync and a hover preview available. A nested Spek shows that content's full body inline, with no click needed at all.
