How to Nest and Link Content

Here's how to nest live content inside a Spek, link out to other content, and manage those connections once they're in place.

1. How to Nest Content

Nested content is read-only where it appears. To change it, edit the source Spek. This keeps one single source of truth.

1. Open a Spek.
2. Type the @ symbol.
3. Type a minimum of 3 characters for results to start appearing.
4. Select the Content (Spek, PDF, etc.) you would like to nest.

The nested content renders live from the source.

2. How to Link to Content

It's now easier than ever to link out to other Speks.

1. Create a new Spek or edit an existing Spekit Content.
2. Type the # symbol.
3. Type a minimum of 3 characters for results to start appearing.
4. Select the Content (Spek, PDF, etc.) you would like to link to.

3. How to Delete a Link or a Nested Spek

1. Open the Spek.
2. Either click on the linked or nested Content (Spek, PDF, etc.) or click in front of the linked or nested content to place the cursor.
3. Backspace to delete it.

4. What Happens If the Name of the Content Changes?

The link stays unbroken and still works. The displayed link title now updates on its own. If you rename a linked Spek, the displayed title updates everywhere it appears. You can also hover over a link to preview the Spek.

If you had links before this update, Spekit will migrate them shortly after launch. After that, titles stay current and hover previews start working.

5. Permissions and Limits

Nested content follows the source Spek's permissions. For Deal Rooms and shared links, the source Spek must also be marked externally shareable.

If a viewer does not have permission to see the nested content, they see a "content unavailable" message instead of a blank or broken section.

You can nest up to 3 levels deep.
