[Rep Guide] Feature content at the top of a section

Featuring pulls one piece of content out of the grid and renders it expanded at the top of its section, so your buyer can watch, read, or click through it without opening anything first. Use it to put the one thing that matters most in front of them.

ℹ️ You can feature one content item per section, plus one at the top of the room. To add content in the first place, see Ways to add content.

1. Feature a piece of content

  1. Open the Deal Room.
  2. Find the content you want to feature.
  3. Click the Feature button.

The item moves to the top of its section and renders expanded, with its title above it. The rest of the section's content stays below in card or list view.

ℹ️ Each section holds one featured item, and the room can have one more at the top, above your sections. Featuring something new in a section replaces what was featured there before.

2. Unfeature a piece of content

Unfeature content when the deal has moved on, or when you want to put something else at the top instead.

  1. Open the Deal Room.
  2. Find the featured item at the top of the section.
  3. Click the Unfeature button.

The item drops back into the section with everything else, in card or list view. Nothing is deleted and nothing moves out of the room. The section simply goes back to having no featured item until you pick another one.

ℹ️ To swap rather than remove, you do not have to unfeature first. Featuring something new in a section replaces whatever was featured there before.

💡 Pro Tip: If a section no longer has an obvious lead item, unfeature rather than leaving something stale at the top. An out of date featured item is worse than none.

3. How featured content behaves

Featured content is live in the room, not a preview image. What that means depends on the type.

Content type What your buyer can do
Videos Play it right in the room.
Slide decks Click through it in place.
Speks and documents Read it in a fixed-height, scrollable box, so a long document does not take over the page.

Clicking a featured item still opens the content drawer and full-screen view, exactly as it does anywhere else. Featuring changes where content sits and how it renders, not what happens when someone opens it.

💡 Pro Tip: Engagement on featured content is tracked like any other content, so you can see whether putting something at the top actually got it watched. See Understand Deal Room analytics.

4. What to feature

Feature the one thing you would point at if you were in the room with them.

Situation What to feature
First impression matters A sales or marketing video, so the room opens with something they will actually watch.
An active deal in motion The executive summary or mutual action plan, kept front and centre while the deal moves.
After a discovery call or webinar The deck, so they can review it in place instead of hunting for it.
Sharing photos or visuals An image gallery built as slides.

5. Best practices

Best practice Why it helps
Feature one thing, not everything The point is emphasis. Featuring in every section gives your buyer no signal about what matters.
Match the feature to the deal stage What belongs at the top in discovery is not what belongs there in procurement.
Change it as the deal moves A featured item from three weeks ago tells your buyer the room is stale.
Prefer video and decks at the top They are the formats that gain the most from playing in place.
Check whether it worked If the featured item is not getting views, the problem is the content, not the position.
