When a Deal Room is linked to the right Salesforce record, every view, open, and download on that room rolls up to the deal automatically. So when your CRO asks how the buyers are engaging, or whether the content moved the deal, the answer is already in your dashboard instead of in someone's memory.
ℹ️ The company list comes from your synced Salesforce data. You only see accounts and opportunities you have access to.
1. Why linking matters
Linking is what turns Deal Room engagement into deal data.
| Without a link | With a link |
|---|---|
| You can see engagement on the room | Engagement rolls up to the account and opportunity in Salesforce |
| You answer "did they open it" from memory | Marketing and leadership can see it in the deals dashboard |
| The room sits on its own | The room shows the deal amount and stage alongside it |
Once a room is linked, every future view, download, or interaction on that shared link ties back to the deal automatically. You do not have to do anything else.
💡 Pro Tip: The same company list appears whenever you share content externally, not just on Deal Rooms. Picking the right record on a Spek or a file does the same job.
2. Link a Deal Room when you create it
- Start a new Deal Room.
- On Choose or add a company, pick the Salesforce account or opportunity.
- Finish creating the room.
The list is ordered to put the right record near the top.
| How it is ordered | What that means for you |
|---|---|
| Recent Salesforce activity first | Deals you have touched lately float to the top. |
| Your opportunities first | You are not scrolling past deals that belong to teammates. |
See Create a Deal Room for the full creation flow.
3. Accounts and opportunities
The list holds both, and the icon tells you which is which.
| Icon | What it is | When to pick it |
|---|---|---|
| Salesforce icon | An account | The deal has no opportunity yet, or the room covers the whole relationship. |
| Crown icon | An opportunity | There is a specific deal you want engagement to roll up to. |
💡 Pro Tip: Pick the opportunity when one exists. Account-level linking tells you a company engaged. Opportunity-level linking tells you a deal did, and that is the question people actually ask.
4. What you see once it is linked
Once a room is linked, the deal travels with it.
| Where | What shows |
|---|---|
| In the room | The opportunity, account, amount, stage, and owner. |
| On your Deal Rooms list | The opportunity, stage, close date, and amount on the room's row. |
5. If you cannot find the record you expect
If the account or opportunity is not in the list, the connection is almost certainly fine. It is nearly always a Salesforce sharing rules issue on the admin side.
Flag it to your Spekit admin. They can check whether the record is shared with you in Salesforce.
6. Best practices
A few habits that keep your engagement data where people can find it.
| Best practice | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Link every room | An unlinked room is engagement data nobody can find later. |
| Pick the opportunity over the account | It answers the question leadership actually asks. |
| Link before you share | Engagement is tied from the moment the link goes out. |
| Check the amount and stage look right | If they are wrong, you picked the wrong record. |
| Ask your admin rather than retyping | A missing record is a sharing rules problem, not something you can fix in Spekit. |
