When you create, clone, or edit a Spek, Spekit checks your library for content that already covers the same topic. If it finds a close match, you see a "Similar content found" flag next to what you are writing. This helps you reuse or update what already exists instead of building a duplicate.
1. What is the "Similar Content Found" Feature?
The Similar Content Found feature is an AI-powered tool designed to help content admins and enablement managers prevent the creation of redundant documentation within Spekit.
No more publishing another Spek on a topic we already cover. As admins create or edit content, Spekit can surface existing similar Speks early — so teams reuse or update the source of truth instead of creating parallel versions of the same story.
Where This Shows Up (Available to Admins/Experts)
- Creating/Cloning a Spek: after the first few words of a title or body.
- Editing a Spek: checks the Spek's existing opening content so overlaps surface without starting over.
What Context It Uses to Flag Similar Content
It uses the first 3–50 words of the title and/or body as the context Spekit checks against existing content.
What's New for Enablement & Governance
- Early overlap signal: Soft suggestions while content is being written, before creating a potentially duplicative piece of content.
- One clear story: Helps keep product updates, competitive positioning, and process docs consistent in one place instead of five redundant copies.
- Broad coverage: Suggestions come from your company's knowledge base, whether that's custom Speks and/or synced and uploaded files.
2. How It Works
- Start a Spek. Choose a template or start from scratch.
- Start writing. Add a title or begin the body.
- See the flag. Spekit reviews the first 3 to 50 words of your title or body and compares them with content already in your library. If it finds a match, the similar Spek appears next to your draft.
- Compare and decide. Open the flagged Spek to see if it is a real overlap or just related.
- Publish or update. Keep writing as planned, or update the existing Spek instead of creating a duplicate.
3. Good to Know
- This is a nudge, not a gate. You can keep writing whether or not you open a match.
- You see up to 10 matches at a time.
- You only see content you already have access to.
- Matches come from your company library only, including Speks and synced or uploaded files.
- Click a match to open it in the Chrome extension. You will see the Spek expert (or creator) and the last updated date.
- Available to Admins, Team Admins, and Experts. Not in the Deal Room Spek flow yet.
