[Admin Guide] How to create Learning Paths

Turn the content you already have into a guided, trackable training journey. Building a Learning Path is fast because you are curating existing knowledge, not writing a new course from scratch. You can also group that content into named sections so longer paths stay easy to follow.

ℹ️ Note: Learning Paths are created in the Spekit Hub (Web App). Learners can complete them in both the Spekit Hub (Web App) and the Sidekick (Chrome Extension).

1. How to set up and target a Learning Path

  1. Open the Spekit Hub (Web App).
  2. Click the + New button.
  3. Select Create a Learning Path from the creation menu.
  4. Enter a clear, descriptive Name.
  5. Select an Icon from the Spekit library, or upload your own.
  6. Under Assign, choose who gets this path. You can use either or both:
    1. By Team: select 1 or more teams.
    2. By user: select individual people.
  7. Set a due date. You have 3 options:
    1. No due date
    2. Within a timeframe of assignment (7, 14, 21, 30, 60, or 90 days)
    3. On a specific date
  8. Add the URL where you want the Learning Path to appear, then choose your targeting level:
    1. Domain (for example, example.com)
    2. Subdomain (for example, app.example.com)
    3. Specific path (for example, example.com/page)
  9. Click Create Learning Path.

💡 Pro Tip: When you assign by team, you can tick Only assign to new users added to the selected Teams. The path then goes to people who join that team from now on, and skips everyone already on it. This is the right setting for onboarding, so existing staff are not assigned training they finished long ago.

💡 Pro Tip: Set a due date even if the deadline is loose. A path with no due date can never show as past due, so it will never appear on the Needs attention card in the Learning Paths list.

2. How to add content

Pull in the resources your team needs to master.

The Content panel on the left has 2 buttons at the top: + Section and + Content. Use + Content to add material, and + Section to group it. See section 3 for sections.

  1. In the Content panel, click + Content.
  2. Choose an option from the menu:
Option What it does
Add from content library Browse content that already exists in Spekit.
Create a Spek Write new content without leaving the Learning Path.
Sync files Connect files from a synced source such as Google Drive.
Upload files Add PDFs, presentations, documents, and more.
Test with a Knowledge Check (quiz) Add a quiz. See How to Add a Knowledge Check to a Learning Path.
Create an AI Role Play Add an AI Role Play so reps can practice a live conversation and get scored.
  1. Use the search bar to find content in Spekit. The search surfaces all Topics and individual items matching your criteria.
  2. Select the items you want.
  3. Add them to your Learning Path.

ℹ️ Note: Confluence and Notion pages cannot be synced into a Learning Path at this time.

💡 Pro Tip: Mix formats on purpose. A Spek to teach the concept, a Knowledge Check to confirm it landed, then a Role Play to practice it. Reading alone rarely changes what a rep says on a call.

3. How to organize content into sections

Sections group related content under a name, so a long path reads as a few clear stages instead of one flat list. Learners see your section names on their path, so they always know where they are.

You build sections from the same Content panel you use to add content. The panel has 2 buttons at the top: + Section and + Content.

This table explains what you can do with sections.

Action How to do it
Create a section Click + Section at the top of the Content panel, then give the section a name.
Add content to a section Click the + button on the section row, or drag an existing item into the section.
Rename a section Click the ... menu on the section row, then rename.
Delete a section Click the ... menu on the section row, then delete.
Reorder sections Drag a section by its handle to move it up or down. Content inside moves with it.
Reorder content Drag an item by its handle to move it inside its section, or into a different section.
Collapse a section Click the chevron next to the section name to hide its contents while you work.

💡 Pro Tip: Name sections for the outcome, not the week. "Handle pricing objections" tells a rep why the stage matters. "Week 2" does not.

ℹ️ Note: Sections also drive analytics. Once a path is published, you can see completion by section, which shows you exactly where learners get stuck.

4. How to publish a Learning Path

Deploy the Learning Path to your organization.

  1. When your content is in the right order, go to the top right of the page.
  2. Click Publish.
  3. In the pop-up, select the teams to assign the Learning Path to.
  4. Choose how to notify them, by email or in-app notification.
  5. Add an optional message for assignees.
  6. Confirm to publish.

Once published, assigned teams can access the Learning Path from their Assigned to Me page. You can update assigned teams at any time in Settings.

ℹ️ Note: On the Learning Paths list, your draft shows a Status of Needs content until you add items, then Ready to publish. Use that as your check before you open the path to publish it.

5. Best practices

Use these habits to build paths that people actually finish.

Best practice Why it matters
Keep each path modular Break a 50-item path into smaller themed paths. Long paths lower completion rates.
Use sections on any path over 6 items Sections give learners a sense of progress and give you section-level analytics.
Bookend each section with a Knowledge Check It moves the learner from passive reading to active recall, which improves retention.
Reuse existing content Content is pulled live from your library. Update the source once and every path updates with it.
Announce the launch with a Spotlight Do not assign and hope. A Spotlight linking to the new path drives first-week completion.
