Turn scattered documentation into structured, trackable learning journeys. Learning Paths reduce ramp time, drive consistent execution, and let you measure comprehension across your whole team.
ℹ️ Note: Admins build Learning Paths in the Spekit Hub (Web App). Learners can complete an assigned path in both the Spekit Hub (Web App) and the Sidekick (Chrome Extension). In both places, they start from Assigned in the top navigation.
1. What is a Learning Path?
When someone needs to learn a complex process or onboard into a new role, single articles are not enough. A Learning Path guides them through a defined sequence of content and Knowledge Checks, and tracks progress from start to finish.
A Learning Path is a container for content you already have. That changes how you manage training material.
This table explains the 3 ideas behind the container model.
| Idea | What it means |
|---|---|
| No duplication | Content is pulled straight from your Spekit library. You never copy and paste it into a course. |
| Live version control | Update the source content once, and the change appears in every Learning Path that uses it. |
| Structure, not content | A Learning Path defines the order, the stages, and the milestones. It does not hold its own copy of the content. |
2. Why use Learning Paths
Learning Paths let enablement teams scale knowledge and prove the result with completion data.
This table explains the main reasons teams use them.
| Reason | What it solves |
|---|---|
| Reduce ramp time | Removes the "what do I read next" problem with a clear, ordered sequence. |
| Drive consistency | Every rep gets the same baseline training on process and messaging. |
| Find knowledge gaps | Shows exactly where learners stall or drop off. |
Common use cases include new hire onboarding, product and feature launches, methodology rollouts such as MEDDIC, and annual compliance training.
3. What you can build
This table explains what goes into a Learning Path.
| Capability | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Content | Add content from your library, create new content with templates or AI, or upload files such as PDFs and presentations. |
| Sections | Group content into named stages. Create, rename, delete, and drag to reorder them. |
| Knowledge Checks | Add a quiz at any point. Up to 20 questions, single select or multiple select, with a pass mark you set. |
| AI Role Play | Add a live practice step where reps rehearse a real conversation and get scored. Create one straight from the + Content menu. |
| Assignment | Assign to teams, set a due date, and notify by email or in-app notification. |
| Targeting | Choose the URLs where the path appears in the Spekit sidebar. |
ℹ️ Note: Confluence and Notion pages cannot be added to a Learning Path at this time.
4. What learners see
A learner does not see the builder. They see their assigned path and their own progress.
-
Learners open assigned paths under Assigned tab.
- The path shows your section names, so learners always know which stage they are in.
- As they work through content and complete Knowledge Checks, the progress bar updates automatically.
- Learners can stop and come back later. Spekit remembers where they left off.
- After completion, all content stays available for reference.
💡 Pro Tip: Section names are learner-facing. Name them for the outcome, such as "Handle pricing objections", not "Week 2". It tells the learner why the stage matters.
5. What admins can track
Admins have 2 views: the whole program, and one path at a time.
This table explains where each view lives.
| View | Where to find it | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| All paths | The Learning Paths list | Published, Draft and Archived tabs, total assignments, average completion, and which paths need attention. |
| One path | The Analytics tab inside the path | Completion by path item, and by learner with a per-item breakdown. |
| Across the account | Analytics → Learning, the Learning Paths Dashboard | Published paths, incomplete and completed assignments, assignment status per team, plus tables for Learning Paths, Learning Path Knowledge Checks, and Learning Path AI Roleplays. Filter by team, path, user type, user, inactive users, and archived paths. |
6. Best practices
Use these strategies to get high completion and real retention.
| Best practice | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Keep each path modular | Break a 50-item path into smaller themed paths. Long paths lose people. |
| Use sections on longer paths | Sections give learners a sense of progress and give you section-level analytics. |
| Test comprehension at each stage | A Knowledge Check at the end of a section turns passive reading into active recall. |
| Set a due date | Without one, a path can never show as past due, so it never surfaces as needing attention. |
| Drive adoption with a Spotlight | Do not assign and hope. A Spotlight linking to the new path lifts first-week completion. |
| Review paths each quarter | Content updates itself, but the structure and the order can still go stale. |
