Learn how to navigate and make the most of the Spekit Chrome Extension to access just-in-time knowledge and streamline your workflow. Before you begin, make sure the Spekit Chrome Extension is installed in your browser.
NOTE: Some features outlined in this guide are only available to users with Account Admin, Team Admin, or Expert access.
Chrome Extension Top Navigation Bar
Open the Spekit Chrome Extension, and you'll find the following navigation options at the top:
1. Search
You can search Spekit directly from the Sidebar, no matter which browser window you're in—making it easy to find knowledge without leaving your workflow. How to Search:
- In the Search bar, enter a keyword, process name, or specific term you’re looking for.
- Use the filters to narrow your results by content type:
- Speks
- Files
- Topics
- Spotlights
- Flows
- Knowledge Checks
- Click on the most relevant result to open and view its full details.
Need to identify missing documentation? Toggle on the Only show empty Speks option to surface Speks that exist but haven’t been filled out yet—helping you spot knowledge gaps and contribute where needed.
2. Home
The Home page of the Spekit Chrome Extension is your browser-based hub for accessing relevant, in-the-moment knowledge. It brings Spekit’s content directly into your workflow, tailored to the site or tool you're currently using.
Here’s what you’ll see on the Home page:

Website-specific Topics: Spekit automatically displays Topics related to the webpage you’re currently on, helping you access the most relevant information instantly.

AI-Powered Content Recommendations (if enabled): Get intelligent suggestions based on your browsing activity and context to help guide your next steps.

All Accessible Topics: If no content is tied to the current website, the Home page will show a full list of Topics you have access to, so you’re never without the knowledge you need.
3. Team Hub
The Team Hub is the central location for all content within Spekit. It acts as your organization’s shared library, making it easy to access, organize, and contribute knowledge across teams.
From the Team Hub tab, you can explore existing content by searching for specific Topics or browsing through categorized materials. Whether you're looking for a particular Spek, file, or training resource, this is where you’ll find it.
In addition to exploring content, the Team Hub is also where you can create and manage new resources. You’ll have the option to add:

Speks – Bite-sized pieces of knowledge or how-to guides

File Uploads – Upload documents directly

File Sync – Connect and sync files from external sources

Topics – Group related Speks and files together for easy navigation

Knowledge Checks – Create quizzes to reinforce learning

Spotlights – Highlight important content or updates
-
Flows – Step-by-step walkthroughs to guide users through processes
The Team Hub empowers everyone to contribute and find the content they need, all in one organized space.
Knowledge Checks
To view your assigned Knowledge Checks, simply click on Topics in the Spekit Web App. At the top of the page, you’ll find the Knowledge Checks section. From this section, you can:
- Take any assigned Knowledge Checks that are still pending
- Review completed Knowledge Checks to revisit your results or refresh your knowledge
It’s your go-to spot for tracking progress and staying up to date on required learning.
4. My Hub
The My Hub tab serves as your personal workspace, giving you quick access to key tools and resources tailored just for you. Within this tab, you’ll find:
- Favorites – A dedicated space where you can view all the Speks and Files you’ve saved for easy access.
- Trackable Links – Previously referred to as SmartSend, this section allows you to manage and share content via links that provide visibility into engagement and performance.
- Deal Rooms (COMING SOON) – From here, you can manage existing Deal Rooms or create a new one with just a few clicks, streamlining how you collaborate and share content with external stakeholders.
The My Hub tab is designed to bring your most-used features together in one convenient place, helping you stay organized and efficient.
5. Spekit AI Sidekick
Spekit AI Sidekick is your personalized, AI-powered assistant—built right into your workflow. It delivers instant answers, tailored content recommendations, and real-time guidance to help you work smarter and make faster, more informed decisions.

6. Notification Bell (Bell Icon)
Stay informed about content changes with Spekit’s built-in notifications and update tracking.
- Spek Updates: Easily see who updated a Spek, when it was updated, and any descriptions or details added by Admins or Experts. If a Spek has been updated multiple times, you’ll be able to view the full history of changes.
- Notifications: Click the bell icon in the Chrome Extension or Web App to open your Notifications panel. Here, you can view both read and unread alerts related to updates, assignments, and more.
- Red Indicator: A red dot on the bell icon signals new activity. This indicator will clear once you open the notification panel.
NOTE: A notification will remain marked as unread until you click on or interact with it in the notifications list.
Additional Navigation Options
Open the Spekit Chrome Extension. You will see the following navigation items when you click on the ellipsis [...] at the top-right of the Chrome Extension:
- Analytics
- Extension Settings
- Open in Webapp
- New in Spekit
- Request Feature
- Report a Problem
- Support or Ask an Expert
1. Analytics
Available for Account Admins, Team Admins, & Experts
The Analytics tab provides insights into how your team is engaging with Spekit content. Clicking the ellipsis (...) in the Chrome Extension and selecting Analytics will open the Spekit Web App.
From there, you can view detailed analytics by:
- User activity
- Activation status
- Spek views
- Search behavior
You can also export these reports as CSV files for further analysis.
2. Extension Settings
Use Settings to customize the Dock’s appearance and positioning on your screen. This allows you to tailor the Chrome Extension to fit your workflow seamlessly. Click here to learn more about the Dock.
3. Open in Webapp
Clicking the Webapp button will launch the Spekit Web App in a new browser tab.
If you currently have a Spek open in the Chrome Extension, that same Spek will automatically open in the Web App for a seamless experience.
4. New in Spekit
Stay up-to-date with the latest product enhancements by clicking the New in Spekit button. This will take you to our Changelog, where all recent updates, improvements, and new features are documented in one place.
5. Request Feature
Your feedback shapes the future of Spekit! By clicking Request Feature, you'll be directed to our Canny board, where you can:
- Submit new feature requests
- Vote on suggestions from other users
- Influence our product roadmap

6. Report a Problem
Users can now submit feedback or report issues directly from the Chrome Extension via the Report a Problem option. This makes it faster and easier to flag end-user challenges and streamline resolution.
7. Support
Available for Account Admins, Team Admins, & Experts
Clicking the Support button opens the Spekit Help Center in a new tab, where you can browse resources, tutorials, and troubleshooting guides.
7. Ask an Expert
Available for Viewers
Need clarification on a Spek or want to provide feedback? Use the Ask an Expert option in the Chrome Extension to send a direct question to the content Expert assigned to that Spek.
- If an Expert is assigned, your message will go directly to them.
- If no Expert is assigned, your question will be sent to a fallback email address configured by your Customer Success Manager (CSM).

Navigating a Spek in the Chrome Extension
Open a Spek on the Spekit Chrome Extension. You will have the following options available to you:
- Favorite
- Share
- Copy Content to Clipboard
- Expand
- Edit
- Clone
- Mark as Read
- Reactions
- Navigate Speks
- Zoom in on an Image
- Shortcuts
1. Favorite
- Starring a Spek saves the Spek to the starred items, making them available whenever you open the Chrome Extension.
2. Share
- Users have the ability to share Speks with other Spekit users or externally (Admin/Experts or Trackable Links customers only), simply by clicking ‘Share’ and copying the link.
- Admins have the ability to share Speks internally or externally.
3. Copy Content to Clipboard
- Copy the content of a Spek, including images and videos, to save time rewriting the exact details.
- Click Copy and then paste it to the desired location by right-clicking or using the shortcut ctrl+v.
4. Expand

The Expand feature will allow you to move the Spekit Chrome Extension wherever possible. You can view the Spekit Chrome Extension side by side:
- Follow a Topic sequence.
- Remove it from covering fields and buttons.
- Use side-by-side with any process.
- Clicking the Expand button will move the Chrome Extension off of your browser and alongside any window, allowing you to browse the full screen.
5. Edit
- The edit button will launch the editing window for that Spek.
6. Clone
- Click the Clone button inside any Spek to duplicate the content and customize it to your needs.
7. Mark as Read

The Mark as Read button allows a User to know which Speks they’ve reviewed and the ones they have left to review in a Topic.

When a Spek is marked as read, the Spek won’t disappear from the list of Speks under a Topic. So you will be able to search for and view the Spek again. The Spek will have a Read indicator:
- As an Admin, you can view if a user has marked the Spek as read in the Spek Management dashboard.
8. Emoji Reactions
- Take a second to leave feedback with the click of an emoji. Reactions allow anyone on your Team to give a simple sentiment response so content creators can quickly improve (or celebrate!) training.

There are six available reactions:
- 😍 = Incredible
- 💯 = On Point
- 🎉 = Celebrate
- 👍 = Helpful
- 🤨 = Confused
- 👎 = Not Helpful
- As an Admin, you will be able to review every Spek's reactions in the Spek Management dashboard.
9. Navigate Speks
- Users can navigate from Spek to Spek in the Chrome Extension, allowing for easier functionality in reading content and in making sequences even more accessible.
- In the Spekit Chrome Extension, you will see buttons with arrows labeled Next and Previous at the bottom. The navigation buttons will allow you to easily navigate through to the next or previous Spek.
10. Zoom in on an Image
- You can click on any image to zoom in or expand any videos to full screen.
11. Shortcuts
- With these keyboard commands, you can now perform various actions with ease. Here are the keyboard commands:

To open the sidebar:
- Command + Shift + S on Mac
-
Alt + Shift + S on PC
- If no text is selected, this will open the sidebar to the home page with the search bar focused.
- If text is selected, this will open the sidebar to the search results page with a keyword search executed and filters pre-selected for Speks and undocumented.
- NOTE: The old command "S" will also work for a period of time while users adjust, but we will eventually deprecate it.

To close the sidebar:
- Command + Shift + X on Mac
- Alt + Shift + X on PC
NOTE: If you have conflicts with these key commands in your browser (1Password also uses the command + shift + x), you can manage your extensions by going to Chrome: //extensions/shortcuts and configuring the shortcuts manually.
How to enable or disable Spek icons
1.) Click the Dock to open the Spekit Chrome Extension sidebar.
2.) Click the ellipsis [...] at the top of the Chrome Extension.
3.) Select Settings and locate the header for Domain Settings.
4.) Click on the Show help text icons slider to enable or disable help text icons.
How to move the Dock
The Dock is easily draggable with just one click.
1.) Click and hold the Dock.
2.) Drag it to the desired location.
How to resize the Dock
1.) Click the Dock to open the Spekit Chrome Extension sidebar.
2.) Click the ellipsis [...] at the top of the Chrome Extension.
3.) Select Settings and locate the header for Sidebar Dock Size.
4.) Click on either Minimized for a smaller icon or Expanded for a full icon.
How to hide the Dock
1.) Click the Dock to open the Spekit Chrome extension sidebar.
2.) Click the ellipsis [...] at the top of the Chrome Extension.
3.) Click Settings and locate the header for Sidebar Dock Size.
4.) Click on Show sidebar dock.
