AI Role Play adds a live practice step to the Learning Paths you already run. A rep speaks through a real conversation with an AI buyer, the attempt is scored against criteria you set, and the Learning Path step completes only when the rep passes.
ℹ️ AI Role Play lives inside a Learning Path. There is no separate role play library, and role plays cannot be added to a Spek.
1. What AI Role Play does
A Learning Path gives a rep the knowledge. A role play checks that the rep can use it out loud, before a real customer call.
The rep speaks to an AI buyer. The AI buyer asks questions, raises objections, and reacts to what the rep says. After the attempt, the rep gets a score and feedback. If the score clears the passing bar you set, the step is complete. If not, the rep can try again as many times as they need.
This means a completed Learning Path is proof the rep could hold the conversation, not just proof they read the material.
2. Where role plays live
Role plays run in 1 place only. This table shows where they work and where they do not.
| Where | Available |
|---|---|
| Learning Path step, in Spekit Hub (Web App) | Yes |
| Sidekick (Chrome Extension) | No. You are redirected to Spekit Hub to complete the role play |
| Inside a Spek | No |
| As a standalone role play library | No |
💡 Pro Tip: If a rep tells you a role play will not open in the browser extension, that is expected. Send them to Spekit Hub (Web App).
3. Who does what
Three groups touch a role play, and each one does a different job.
| Role | What they do |
|---|---|
| Admin or enablement manager | Builds the scenario, writes the scoring criteria, sets the passing score, and adds the role play as a step in a Learning Path |
| Rep | Completes the role play inside their assigned Learning Path, sees their score after each attempt, and retries until they pass |
| Manager or sales leader | Reviews scores and completion in Learning Path analytics to see who is ready, who is close, and who has not started |
4. What a role play is made of
Every role play is built from the same 4 parts.
| Part | What it is |
|---|---|
| Scenario | The specific conversation being practiced, such as a first call with an inbound lead, or pricing pushback after a proposal |
| AI buyer | The persona the rep speaks to, including their role, what they care about, and what they are skeptical of |
| Scoring criteria | The behaviors the attempt is scored against, written so they can be observed in the conversation |
| Passing score | The bar the rep has to clear for the Learning Path step to complete |
You can build a scenario from content already governed in Spekit, or from material you upload yourself.
5. When to use a role play
Role plays work best where a rep has to perform, not just know. These are the 3 most common uses.
| Use case | What it looks like |
|---|---|
| Onboarding | A new hire has to deliver the pitch, not just watch it. The onboarding Path does not complete until they can |
| Launches and messaging | Turn new messaging into a scenario reps practice before the message goes live, instead of finding the gap on customer calls |
| Objections and competitors | Reps practice the pricing conversation or the competitor conversation before they have it with a buyer |
💡 Pro Tip: Put the learning material before the role play in the Path. A role play placed first measures instinct. Placed last, it measures readiness.
6. Good to know before you start
The questions people ask most often before their first role play.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Do reps need a separate login? | No. Reps are set up automatically the first time they open a role play |
| What if a rep cannot pass? | They can retry as often as they need. The Learning Path step does not complete until they pass |
| Can an admin see a failed attempt? | Yes. Every attempt is captured with its score, so you can tell a rep who was just under the bar from one who was far below it, and both from a rep who never started |
| Where do results show up? | In the Learning Path analytics, and in the Learning Dashboard under the Analytics tab |
| What languages are supported? | 30+ languages. The whole experience runs in the chosen language, including the conversation, the analysis and email notifications |
| Can we keep using a role play tool we already have? | Yes. Existing role plays can be embedded in Spekit so reps practice in the same place they learn |
