Troubleshooting Slow Page Load Times

If pages are loading slowly with the Spekit Chrome Extension enabled, work through the steps below to identify and resolve the cause.

1. Basic Troubleshooting

  1. Check for any active incidents at status.spekit.com. If there is an open incident, monitor the page and retest your load speeds once the incident is resolved.
  2. Ensure you are running the latest version of the Spekit Chrome Extension. Check the latest version number on the Spekit Chrome Web Store listing.
  3. Ensure Chrome is up to date. Go to Settings → About Chrome to check for updates.
  4. Clear your Chrome cache, restart your computer, and retest page load speeds.
  5. If you are connected to a VPN, disconnect from it and retest.
  6. Try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network and retest.

2. Salesforce Troubleshooting: Recording EPT Times

To isolate whether Spekit is contributing to slow load times in Salesforce, record the EPT (Experienced Page Time) with Spekit both enabled and disabled and compare the results.

With Spekit enabled:

  1. Confirm the Spekit Chrome Extension is enabled and Show help text icons is turned on.
  2. Close all open Salesforce tabs.
  3. Make the Salesforce EPT timer visible by adding ?eptVisible=1 to your Lightning URL — for example: https://[yourorg].lightning.force.com/one/one.app?eptVisible=1
  4. Open a Salesforce record that was slow to load (e.g., an Opportunity or Account record).
  5. Record the EPT time displayed on screen.
  6. Refresh the page and record the EPT time again.
  7. Repeat steps 4–6 for three additional records of varying types to help isolate whether the issue is specific to a record type or page layout.

With Spekit disabled:

  1. Disable the Spekit Chrome Extension.
  2. Close all open Salesforce tabs.
  3. Add ?eptVisible=1 to your Lightning URL as above.
  4. Open the same Salesforce records you tested above.
  5. Record the EPT time, refresh the page, and record it again.
  6. Repeat for the same three records tested above.

Compare the EPT times from both sets of results to determine whether Spekit is contributing to the slowness.

3. Other Web Tools: Recording Page Load Times

With Spekit enabled:

  1. Confirm the Spekit Chrome Extension is enabled and Show help text icons is turned on.
  2. Navigate to the page you want to test.
  3. Right-click anywhere on the page and click Inspect to open Chrome DevTools.
  4. Click the Network tab in DevTools.
  5. Refresh the page.
  6. Record the Finish and Load times shown at the bottom of the Network pane.
  7. Refresh the page again and record the times a second time.
  8. Repeat for 2–3 other pages in the same web tool to gather additional data points.

With Spekit disabled:

  1. Disable the Spekit Chrome Extension.
  2. Navigate to the same page you tested above.
  8. Repeat for the same 2–3 pages tested above.

Compare the load times from both sets of results to determine whether Spekit is contributing to the slowness on that web tool.
