The AI Content Builder helps you draft, rewrite, and reshape content without starting from a blank page. It sits in a panel next to the editor. You can use it in a Spek, in Doc or Slides mode, and on a Topic editing page.
1. Where to find it
You can use it in 3 places:
| Where | Notes |
|---|---|
| A Spek | In Doc mode or Slides mode |
| A content template | A Spek with its Type set to Template. The builder works the same way, and it also reads the Template instructions field |
| A Topic landing page | On the Landing page tab of the Edit Topic window. See section 7 |
💡 Pro Tip: When you build a template, write the Template instructions first. The builder reads them, so a clear instruction produces better content every time someone uses that template.
The panel opens on the left side of the editor. Use the arrow to collapse it when you want more writing space.
It has 2 tabs:
| Tab | What it does | |
|---|---|---|
| Create | Takes your instruction and writes into the editor. | |
| Similar | Checks whether content like yours already exists. |
The prompt box sits at the bottom. You can write up to 1700 characters.
ℹ️ Note: AI can make mistakes. Always read the result before you save.
ℹ️ Note: The builder writes into your editor. Nothing is saved until you click Save as and choose Publish or Draft.
2. Add context sources
The builder writes better when you give it something to work from. Click Add context sources and pick a source.
| Source | What it does | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Transcripts | Searches your calls. Click Upload transcript if the call you need is not listed. | 1 transcript |
| Spekit | Searches your existing Spekit content. Your recently viewed items appear first. | No stated limit |
| Web | Enter a search term. Spekit searches the web and adds what it finds to your sources. | 1 web source |
💡 Pro Tip: A prompt with a source attached gives a much better first draft than a prompt on its own. If you are turning a call into content, attach the transcript first, then write the instruction.
3. Generate new content
Use this when you are starting from an idea and want a structured first draft.
- Open a new or existing Spek.
- Open the Create tab in the AI Content Builder panel.
- Add a context source if you have one.
- Write a prompt describing what you want.
- Press enter.
- Read the draft and edit it in the editor.
| Goal | Example prompt |
|---|---|
| Onboarding checklist | Create a "First 30 Days" onboarding checklist for Account Executives, focused on CRM hygiene and internal tool certification. |
| Battlecard | Generate a battlecard comparing Spekit's real-time context against [competitor], including 3 landmine questions for reps to ask. |
| Strategy explainer | Draft a Spek explaining our 2026 AI strategy, and how we differ from general LLMs. |
| Customer template | Generate a success plan template that CSMs can share with customers to track ROI and adoption milestones. |
4. Improve or rewrite existing content
Use this to clean up content you already have.
- Open the Spek you want to change.
- Open the Create tab.
- Name the section you want changed, and say how to change it.
- Press enter.
- Review the result and keep what works.
| Goal | Example prompt |
|---|---|
| Change the angle | Rewrite the "Product Limitations" section to sound advisory and solution-oriented, not restrictive. |
| Change the format | Turn the "Deployment" paragraph into a numbered checklist reps can follow during a call. |
| Add detail | Expand the "Security" section with a paragraph on SOC 2 compliance and data encryption standards. |
| Remove stale detail | Update the "Competitor Comparison" section to drop 2025 references and cover their new AI features. |
| Simplify | Simplify the "Integration" section. Use clear, short language a non-technical rep can repeat to a prospect. |
💡 Pro Tip: Name the section in your prompt. A prompt that says "rewrite the Security section" gives a cleaner result than one that says "make this better".
💡 Pro Tip: Say what should stay the same. Without that, the builder treats a broad prompt as permission to edit everything.
5. Adjust tone, length, and audience
Use this when the content is right but the reader is different.
- Open the Spek.
- Open the Create tab.
- Say who the reader is and how the tone or length should change.
- Press enter.
- Review the suggested version.
| Goal | Example prompt |
|---|---|
| Shorten for leadership | Condense this product update into a 3-bullet executive summary for a CRO. |
| Make it customer-safe | Rewrite these internal engineering notes into a customer-friendly explanation of the feature. |
| Make it scannable | Add a short summary at the top of this Spek for reps who need an answer mid-call. |
| Change the tone | Make the "Pricing Objection" section more confident. Remove passive language. |
| Remove the jargon | Turn this API documentation into plain English for the sales team. |
6. Check for similar content
Open the Similar tab to see whether content like yours already exists. The tab matches on your title and the first part of your content, and it checks again whenever those change.
A number next to the tab name tells you how many matches were found. If there are none, you will see "No similar content found".
Each match shows who last updated it and when, so you can tell whether it is still current.
What you can do with a match
Click the ... menu on any match.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Open in new tab | Opens the match in the editor in a new tab, so you can compare or edit it |
| Use as context to generate | Adds it as a source in the AI Content Builder |
| Embed into this Spek | Inserts it into your body, so there is 1 source of truth |
ℹ️ Note: Matches can include Deal Room Templates as well as Speks.
Prompts to use after "Use as context to generate"
Adding the match as a source does not write anything on its own. You still need to tell the builder what to do with it.
| Goal | Prompt |
|---|---|
| Merge the two | Combine the attached content with what I have here. Keep both sets of steps and remove anything repeated. |
| Match the format | Rewrite my draft to follow the same structure and headings as the attached content. |
| Fill the gaps | Compare my draft to the attached content. Add anything important that mine is missing. |
| Make a shorter version | Use the attached content to write a 1-page version for reps who need an answer mid-call. |
| Change the audience | The attached content is written for admins. Rewrite it for a new sales rep. |
| Update it | The attached content is from last year. Rewrite it using the details in my draft, and drop anything out of date. |
| Spot the differences | Compare my draft to the attached content and list where the 2 disagree. |
💡 Pro Tip: If the match is better than your draft, do not merge. Open it in a new tab and update that one instead. Two merged versions still leave your team with 2 places to look.
💡 Pro Tip: Check this tab early, before you write the whole thing. If a match already covers your topic, updating it beats building a second version.
💡 Pro Tip: Use Embed into this Spek when the match should stay in 1 place. The embedded content updates when the original does, so your page never goes stale.
7. Use it on a Topic editing page
The builder also appears when you edit a Topic. The Edit Topic window has 2 tabs: Settings and Landing page.
| Tab | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Settings | Topic name, Icon, Parent Topics, and Related domains |
| Landing page | The AI Content Builder and the page editor |
Steps
- Open the Topic you want to edit.
- Click the Landing page tab.
- Use the AI Content Builder panel on the left to draft or change the page.
- Click Save changes.
ℹ️ Note: The greeting names the Topic you are editing, so you can confirm you are in the right place before you start.
The builder works the same way here as in a Spek. Same 3 source types, same 1700 character limit.
You can also write directly in the editor on the right. Drag files in, embed media, or pick a starting point.
Prompt examples for a Topic landing page
A landing page is a front door, not an article. It should tell people where to start and what matters right now.
| Goal | Prompt |
|---|---|
| Onboarding | Create a landing page for new sales hires. Show what to read in week 1, week 2, and week 3, with a short line on why each one matters. |
| Learn a feature | Create an overview of this Topic for someone using the feature for the first time. Start with what it does, then the 3 things they need to set up. |
| Point people to a starting place | Write a short welcome section, then a card grid linking to the 4 most important items in this Topic. |
| Announce a change | Add a callout at the top announcing the new pricing tiers, with a link to the full details below. |
| Role-based entry points | Create 3 sections, 1 each for SDRs, AEs, and CSMs, with what each role needs from this Topic. |
| Quick answers | Add a short FAQ section covering the 5 questions people ask most about this Topic. |
| Set the tone | Rewrite the intro so it sounds welcoming rather than procedural. Keep it to 2 sentences. |
💡 Pro Tip: Attach a Spek from the Topic as a source first. The builder then writes a landing page that matches what is actually inside, instead of guessing.
💡 Pro Tip: Keep a landing page short. If someone has to scroll to find the starting point, it is doing the job of an article instead.
💡 Pro Tip: A landing page is the first thing people see when they open a Topic. Use it for current priorities and announcements, not for a long explanation of what the Topic is.
8. Best practices
These habits get better drafts and fewer rewrites.
| Practice | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Attach a source before you prompt | The builder has no context on its own. A transcript, a Spek, or a web source anchors the draft in something real. |
| Give 1 instruction at a time | A prompt that asks for 5 changes usually does 3 of them well. Run them one after another instead. |
| Say who the reader is | "For a new SDR" and "for a CRO" produce very different drafts. The builder cannot guess. |
| Check facts, numbers, and names | The builder can invent details that sound right. You own what gets published. |
| Check Similar before you write | Stops duplicates before they exist. |
| Keep your prompt under the limit | 1700 characters is the cap. If your prompt is long, attach a source instead of pasting the text in. |
