Connect a Spekit deal room to a Slack channel and your deal team gets a notification the moment a prospect engages. No need to log into a separate tool to see who opened what. One channel can connect to many deal rooms, and one deal room can connect to many channels. Notifications work in private channels, where deal teams usually operate.
📌 Quick-Jump Topics
1. Connect a deal room to a channel
The connection is made from Slack. The Spekit Hub (Web App) is where you see the status and manage it.
- In the Slack channel where you want notifications, type /invite @spekit to add the Spekit bot. Do this first. If you skip it, Spekit will prompt you to invite the bot before the modal opens.
- In the same channel, type /spekit dealroom.
- A modal opens. Pick the deal room or rooms you want to connect. You must be a collaborator on the deal room.
- The mapping goes live. Views and Opens notifications are on by default.
- The linked channel now shows in the Slack tab of the deal room settings in the Spekit Hub.
NOTE: If /spekit commands are not responding, run /spekit connect first, then try again.
2. Find and manage it in the Spekit Hub
Open the deal room in the Spekit Hub (Web App), then go to Deal Room settings, then the Slack tab. You can also reach this from Connect in the deal room header. The Slack tab shows:
- The setup steps, so reps know what to run in Slack
- A Setup guide link to this help center
- The linked channel, or "No channel linked yet" if nothing is connected
- A preview of what the notification looks like
- Views, Opens, and Shares toggles once a channel is linked, so you control which events notify. All three are on by default. Changes take effect immediately.
To see which deal rooms a channel is currently subscribed to, type /spekit dealroom list in that channel.
3. What the notification looks like
When a prospect engages, Spekit posts a "New buyer activity in your Deal Room" card to the linked channel. It shows:
- The prospect email, and whether this is their first visit
- The deal room name
- Time in room, for example 4m 12s
- How many items they viewed
- What they viewed, with time spent on each asset
- Whether the contact exists in Salesforce
- Two buttons, Open Deal Room and Send email, so the rep can follow up without leaving Slack
There are three events you can be notified about:
- Views notify you when a prospect opens the deal room.
- Opens notify you when a prospect opens a specific asset inside it, such as a pricing deck.
- Shares notify you when a rep clicks Share on the deal room.
To keep channels quiet, several activities by the same person within an hour are grouped into a single card rather than posted one by one.
4. Disconnect a deal room
Run /spekit dealroom in the channel again. When the modal opens, deselect the deal room. Notifications stop and the Slack tab in the deal room settings goes back to "No channel linked yet."
5. Edge cases
A few situations behave in specific ways. Here is what to expect and what to do in each:
💡 Pro Tip (AEs/Reps): Map deal rooms to private deal channels, not public ones. Notifications contain prospect email addresses, so keep them in the private channel your deal team uses. Invite the bot before you map.
💡 Pro Tips:
- Name deal channels clearly so the right team sees each alert.
- Invite the bot before you map, or the modal will not open.
- If per-asset Opens alerts get noisy, turn Opens off and keep Views on for the headline signal.
