Ask Spekit gives you cited AI answers inside Slack, grounded in your approved Spekit content, so you get an answer without leaving the channel you are in. Answers are private to you until you choose to share them, and they are permission-aware, so you only get answers from content you are entitled to see.

1. Ask your question
In any channel or DM, type /spekit and your question.
Example: /spekit how do I handle a security objection from a CISO?
Your question and the answer are private to you. Nothing shows up in the channel unless you choose to share it, so you can ask freely even in a busy team channel.
💡 Pro Tip: Ask in full sentences, not keywords. The AI gives a more precise, cited answer when the question reads like a real question. Ask "how do I respond to a security objection from a CISO?" instead of "security objection."
2. What you can ask
Ask the kinds of things you would normally hunt through docs or ping a teammate for. A few examples:
- Handling objections: "how do I respond to a pricing objection?"
- Prepping for a call: "what should I cover in a discovery call for an enterprise deal?"
- Product and pricing: "what is included in the enterprise plan?"
- Finding collateral: "where is the mutual NDA template?"
- Ramping up: new reps can ask process questions all day instead of interrupting a colleague.
Because answers come from your approved content, the whole team gets the same current, on-message answer.
3. Read your private answer
A thread opens on your message. The answer is visible only to you. It includes:
- The answer text
- Source links from your Spekit knowledge base
- Two buttons: Post to channel and Dismiss
Use the source links to double-check the answer or read the full detail. Click a source to open the Spek it came from.

4. Post to channel or Dismiss
Post to channel when it adds value for the team, not for every answer. Keep channels focused on useful, shareable insights.
- Post to channel: Shares the answer with everyone in the channel. Use this when it’s helpful for the whole team.
- Dismiss: Closes the thread without posting anything. Use this when the answer is just for you.
5. Ask a follow-up
To ask a follow-up, type /spekit and your next question in the same thread. Each question is treated as a fresh, standalone query. The AI does not remember your previous question, so include any detail that matters in each new question.
6. If Spekit has no answer
If there is no high-confidence match in your approved content, Spekit returns a "no results" response instead of guessing. Try rephrasing in full sentences, or let a content Expert or admin know, since it may be a gap worth filling.
7. Organizations without AI
If your organization does not have AI enabled, /spekit and a keyword returns the existing keyword search result list. This is unchanged from before.
NOTE: You only ever get answers from content you are entitled to see in Spekit. Nothing you are not allowed to see will appear.
8. Tips for better answers
Small changes to how you ask make a real difference in what you get back. Keep these in mind:
- Ask one thing at a time. Two questions in one line get a muddier answer.
- Add context that narrows it, like the persona, the product, or the deal stage.
- If the first answer misses, rephrase rather than repeat. Different wording pulls different content.
