Creating and managing Spotlights gives you the power to deliver just-in-time communication to your team. You must have Account Admin, Team Space Admin, or Expert access to create and edit Spotlights.
How to create Spotlights
You can create a Spotlight from either the Spekit Web App or the Chrome Extension. The steps for both are very similar.
1.) Open the Spekit Web App or the Spekit Chrome Extension.
2.) Click Team Hub, and click + Add New.
3.) Select Spotlight.
4.) Add a Headline and Message to explain the purpose of your Spotlight. Use the rich text editor to style your text.
NOTE: The character limit is 280 characters.
5.) Update the default image or add a video:
- Choose from the image library.
- Upload an image from your computer.
- Add a video using an embed code from a supported service.
6.) In the Audience section, select the Spekit Team(s) that should see the Spotlight. Click here to see how to set up Spekit Teams.

7.) Set the action for the Spotlight button. You can customize the button text and the destination URL.
8.) Scroll down to the Share & Publish section to set when the Spotlight will appear.
9.) Select a display rule:
- URL contains: The Spotlight will appear on pages with a specific URL.
- Any URL: The Spotlight will appear wherever the user is in their Chrome browser.
For Example: To target the Salesforce Opportunity list views for the Spotlight to appear on a specific URL, copy the URL.
- Then paste it in the field for URL contains. The URL will automatically divide
- The configuration allows the Spotlight to appear on any Opportunity list view being used in Salesforce.
10.) You can click Add new display rule to include additional URLs where the Spotlight should appear.
11.) Set the expiration date by selecting a specific date or choosing Never Expires.
12.) Click Publish. Spotlights may take up to 10 minutes to appear for viewers. You can also click Save Draft to finish it later.
How to use the Rich Text Editor in Spotlights
Our rich text editor for Spotlights offers several tools to help you create clear and engaging content. You can copy and paste content from other sites, and the formatting and lists will be retained.
Toolbar Functions:
- Undo: Use
Ctrl+Zto undo actions. - Text Formatting: Apply font color and background color.
- Text Emphasizing: Apply bold, italics, underline, and strikethrough. Keyboard shortcuts work here as well.
- Lists: Create bulleted or numbered lists.

Indent: Indent text or lists to create an organized structure.
- Allowed in our RTE: The first line starts with the left-most option, the second line can go in 1 indent, the third line can go in another indent, and you can go back as many as you want.
- Not allowed in our RTE: Starting with a list that's indented and indenting multiple times for the second line.
- Text Alignment: Align text to the left, center, or right.
- Special Characters: Add emojis and other special characters.
How to preview Spotlights
A preview of the Spotlight will automatically generate on the right side of the Spotlight creation pop-up. This preview will instantly update as you edit.
How to test a Spotlight
To ensure your Spotlight is working correctly, you must be part of the targeted audience.
1.) Add yourself to the team(s) targeted by your audience rules (set in the spotlight), OR if you are an Account Admin try Audience > Team = Spekit Account Admins.
2.) Publish and go to the page where you expect it to appear.
Once you have confirmed the conditions are all set:

4.) Click the gray box ellipsis [...] at the right-hand side of the Spotlight.
5.) Click Publish.

1.) Open the Spekit Chrome Extension sidebar.
2.) Search for the Spotlight.
3.) Select the Spotlights tab to filter by Spotlights.
4.) Click on the Spotlight you were testing. The Spotlight module will pop up.
5.) Click Publish.
How to edit a published Spotlight

1.) Open the Spekit Web App.
2.) Click Team Hub, and select Spotlight.
3.) Find the Spotlight you want to edit.
4.) Click the gray box ellipsis [...] at the right-hand side of the Spotlight.
5.) Click Preview.
6.) Click Edit.
CHROME EXTENSION INSTRUCTIONS
1.) Open the Spekit Chrome Extension sidebar.
2.) Search for the Spotlight.
3.) Select the Spotlights tab to filter by Spotlights.
4.) Click on the Spotlight you would like to edit. The Spotlight module will pop up.
5.) Click Edit.
