Visibility & Display Issues
Why won't my Spotlight appear for the intended users?
âś… Resolution:Spotlights may not appear for two primary reasons related to audience permissions and URL targeting.
- Audience Permissions: If your Spotlight links to a Spek, every team in your Audience must have access to the Topic where that Spek is located. If even one team lacks permission, the Spotlight will not appear for them.
-
Incorrect URL Path: The most common issue is an incorrect or incomplete URL in your targeting rules. The URL must be divided into two parts for correct targeting: the core domain and the extended path.
-
Correct Example: To target the Opportunity list view page:
- URL contains:
https://companyname.lightning.force.com - Path contains:
/lightning/o/Opportunity/list
- URL contains:
-
Correct Example: To target the Opportunity list view page:
Why do I see a “No Speks found” message?
⚠️ Cause: If you try to link a Spotlight to a Spek and get this message, it means the audience you've selected does not have access to the Topic that the Spek is in.
âś… Resolution:Grant the targeted team access to the relevant Spekit Topic so the Spotlight can successfully find and link to the Spek content.

Editing & Status Issues
Why was my Spotlight unpublished when I clicked “Edit”?
⚠️ Cause: This is the intended behavior to prevent accidental changes to a live announcement. You cannot edit a live Spotlight.
âś… Resolution:When you click Edit, the Spotlight is automatically unpublished, allowing you to make your changes safely. You must then republish it for it to go live again.
