[Admin Guide] Setting Up & Rolling Out the Spekit Slack Integration

Setting up the Spekit Slack integration requires administrative setup in the Spekit Web App before end-users can link their personal accounts. Administrators establish the organization-wide connection between Spekit and Slack.

⚠️ Visual Note During Setup: Authorization screens may temporarily display legacy Spekit branding or directory listings. This is expected behavior. Proceed through authorization—all new AI Sidekick functionality will function properly once connected.

Administrative Setup Steps

Step 1: Install the Slack App via the Spekit Web App

1. Log in to the Spekit Web App (app.spekit.co) as an Administrator.

2. Click the Gear icon in the navigation menu to open Settings.

3. Select the Connect tab.

4. Under the Extensions section, locate the Slack integration.

5. Click Install now.

Step 2: Workspace Authorization

1. A popup window will appear asking for your Slack Workspace details.

2. Enter your Workspace ID (or Workspace URL) and click Continue.

3. You will be redirected to the Slack sign-in and authorization page.

4. Log in with your Slack credentials and click Allow to authorize Spekit for your entire workspace.

ℹ️ Slack Permission Note: Depending on your organization's Slack settings, this step may require approval from a Slack Workspace Owner.

Step 3: Private Channel Access Setup

If your organization intends to use /spekit commands or Deal Rooms in private Slack channels:

1. Ensure the administrator completes the workspace reauthorization prompt if prompted.

2. Remind team members (both admins and reps) to invite the bot to any private channel by typing /invite @spekit directly inside that channel.

Team Rollout Announcements

Once workspace authorization is complete, send a short announcement instructing reps to complete their user-level authentication.

"Team: We’ve upgraded our Spekit Slack integration! Please take 10 seconds to update your connection: In any Slack channel, run /spekit disconnect, then /spekit connect and follow the prompt. (Note: You may see legacy branding on the authorization screen—this is expected and the new AI features will work fine once connected!)."

"Team: Spekit is now live in Slack! Please take 10 seconds to link your account: Open any Slack channel, type /spekit connect, click the link in the private message, and click Allow. Once connected, you can ask questions anytime by typing /spekit [your question]."
