Learn how to use Spotlights and all the features available. You must have Account Admin, Team Space Admin, or Expert access to create Spotlights.
How to create Spotlights in the Spekit Web App
1.) Click the Create button.
2.) Click Spotlight to continue to the Create a Spotlight modal.
3.) Add a Headline and Message to explain the purpose of the Spotlight.
4.) Update the default image with:
- An image from the image library.
- An image you have as a file. Click here to see the image container for Spotlights.
- Or add a video via an embed code. Click here to see what video services Spekit’s iframe embed code supports.
5.) In the Audience section, Select the Spekit Team(s) to see the Spotlight. Spekit Teams that are available in the drop-down will depend on the Spekit Teams created. Click here to see how to set up Spekit Teams.
6.) Set up the action that occurs when the blue button is selected on the Spotlight.
- The button text is also editable.
Note: If using Spek or Topic, be sure the Spekit Teams added to Audience have access to the content.
7.) Scroll down to the Share & Publish section. This is where to set the conditions for when the Spotlight will appear.
8.) Click the dropdown, and select either URL contains or Any URL.
- URL Contains: The Spotlight will appear on a specific URL.
- Any URL: The Spotlight will appear where a user is in their Chrome browser.
For Example: To target the Salesforce Opportunity list views for the Spotlight to appear on a specific URL, copy the URL.
- Then paste it in the field for URL contains. The URL will automatically divide
- The configuration allows the Spotlight to appear on any Opportunity list view being used in Salesforce.
9.) Set the expiration date. Select either Expires on MM/DD/YYYY or Never Expires.
Note: If a Viewer selects the blue button on the Spotlight before the expiration date, the User will no longer be able to see the Spotlight.
10.) Click the Publish button. The Spotlight can take up to 10 minutes to display for viewers.
How to create Spotlights in the Spekit Chrome Extension
1.) Click the Spekit icon to open the Spekit Chrome Extension sidebar.
2.) Click Create.
3.) Click Spotlight to continue to the Create a Spotlight modal.
4.) Add a Headline and Message to explain the purpose of the Spotlight.
5.) Update the default image with:
- An image from the image library.

7.) Select the Spekit Team(s) you would like to see the Spotlight. Spekit Teams that are available in the drop-down will depend on the Spekit Teams created for your Spekit instance. Click here to see how to set up Spekit Teams.

When View Spek is clicked, the Spek will open in the Spekit Chrome Extension.

Instructions for the Spekit Web App
1.) Open the Spekit Web App.
2.) Click Wiki.
3.) Click Spotlights.
4.) Click the gray box ellipsis [...] at the right-hand side of the Spotlight.
5.) Click Delete.
6.) A prompt will appear asking: ’Are you sure? This will delete permanently.’
5.) Click Yes. You will receive a blue confirmation message.
Instructions for the Spekit Chrome Extension
1.) Open the Spekit Chrome Extension sidebar.
2.) Click the drop-down to select Spotlights.
3.) Click the gray box ellipsis [...] at the right-hand side of the Spotlight.
4.) A prompt will appear asking: ’Are you sure? This will delete permanently.’
5.) Click Yes. You will receive a blue confirmation message.
