What are Custom Fields?
Custom fields are additional data points you can add to Files and other content. They allow you to capture more specific information beyond what's typically available in standard fields, making your content more organized and searchable.
Who can see Custom Field Values?
Viewers within your organization are able to view the custom field data. External Viewers are not able to view the custom field data at this time
How to Set Up Custom Fields
Please note, you must have Account Admin access in order to set up Custom Fields.
1.) Open the Spekit Web App.
2.) Go to Settings.
3.) Navigate to the Admin Tools tab.
4.) Click Create Custom Field.
5.) Enter the name of the Custom Field.
6.) Select the Custom Field type. There are two types of Custom Fields:
- String Field: This allows you to enter text data.

Multi-Select Dropdown: This allows you to choose from a list of options.
7.) Select the content type you would like the Custom Field to apply to. You will be able to add Custom Fields to any of the following:

Files
-
Speks
-
Salesforce Objects
-
Salesforce Picklist Values
-
Salesforce Fields
8.) Click Create.
How to Use Custom Fields
You will be able to add custom fields to all different types of content in Spekit. Here are some examples of how you can use Custom Fields in your Spekit Org.
Here are some examples of Custom Fields you can create:
- Content Type (multi-select dropdown): Case Study, Data Sheet, eBook, How-To Guide, White Paper)
- Industry (multi-select dropdown): Finance, Healthcare, Technology
- Status (multi-select dropdown): Draft, In Progress, Approved
- Language (multi-select dropdown): English, Spanish, French
- Revision Number (string field): Track changes and versions
- Priority (multi-select dropdown): High, Medium, Low
- Expiration Date (string field)
- Sales Stage (multi-select dropdown): Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3
- Event Type (multi-select dropdown): Meeting, Webinar, Conference, Offsite
- Campaign Channel (multi-select dropdown): Email, Social Media, Paid Advertising
How to Edit a Custom Field
1.) Open the Spekit Web App.
2.) Go to Settings.
3.) Navigate to the Admin Tools tab.
4.) Find the Custom Field you would like to edit.
5.) Click the … ellipsis.
6.) Click on Edit.
7.) Edit the Custom Field.
8.) Click Save Changes.
9.) Admins and Experts with edit access to content are now able to define Custom Field values for the content in the content creation and editing experiences.
How to Delete a Custom Field
1.) Open the Spekit Web App.
2.) Go to Settings.
3.) Navigate to the Admin Tools tab.
4.) Find the Custom Field you would like to delete.
5.) Click the … ellipsis.
6.) Click on Delete.
7.) A confirmation pop-up will appear, click Yes, Delete.
