What are Custom Fields?
Custom Fields are additional data points you can add to Files, Speks, and other content in Spekit. They allow you to capture more specific information beyond the standard fields, making your content more organized, searchable, and tailored to your team's needs.
Who can see Custom Field Values?
Viewers within your organization are able to view the custom field data. External Viewers are not able to view the custom field data at this time.
How to Set Up Custom Fields
1.) Log in to the Spekit Web App.
2.) Go to Settings.
3.) Navigate to the Admin Tools tab.
4.) Click Create Custom Field.
5.) Enter the name of the Custom Field.
6.) Select the Custom Field type. There are two types of Custom Fields:
- String Field: This allows you to enter text data.

Multi-Select Dropdown: This allows you to choose from a list of options.
7.) Choose the content type(s) to which the Custom Field will apply. Supported content includes:
- Files
- Speks
- Salesforce Objects
- Salesforce Picklist Values
- Salesforce Fields
8.) Click Create.
How to Use Custom Fields
You can apply Custom Fields across various content types to enhance organization and visibility. Here are some example use cases:
Examples of Custom Fields:
- Content-Type: Case Study, Data Sheet, eBook, How-To Guide, White Paper (Multi-Select Dropdown)
- Industry: Finance, Healthcare, Technology (Multi-Select Dropdown)
- Status: Draft, In Progress, Approved (Multi-Select Dropdown)
- Language: English, Spanish, French (Multi-Select Dropdown)
- Revision Number: Track changes and versions (String Field)
- Priority: High, Medium, Low (Multi-Select Dropdown)
- Expiration Date: Add deadlines or review dates (String Field)
- Sales Stage: Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3 (Multi-Select Dropdown)
- Event Type: Meeting, Webinar, Conference, Offsite (Multi-Select Dropdown)
- Campaign Channel: Email, Social Media, Paid Advertising (Multi-Select Dropdown)
How to Edit a Custom Field
1.) Log in to the Spekit Web App.
2.) Go to Settings.
3.) Navigate to the Admin Tools tab.
4.) Find the Custom Field you would like to edit.
5.) Click the ellipsis (...) next to the field.
6.) Click on Edit.
7.) Make your changes to the Custom Field.
8.) Click Save Changes.
9.) Admins and Experts with edit access can now define Custom Field values in the content creation and editing experiences.
How to Delete a Custom Field
1.) Log in to the Spekit Web App.
2.) Go to Settings.
3.) Navigate to the Admin Tools tab.
4.) Find the Custom Field you would like to delete.
5.) Click the ellipsis (...) next to the field.
6.) Click on Delete.
7.) A confirmation pop-up will appear, click Yes, Delete.
How to Mark Must-See Content in Spekit
Certain content within Spekit should be prioritized as Must-See Content to ensure users engage with key resources. If content is marked as Must-See Content, it will appear on the Spekit Web App homepage, making it easily accessible.
1.) Open the Spekit Web App.
2.) Navigate to the Spek or Content that should be marked as Must-See.
3.) Click on the Edit button.
4.) Find the Must-See Content option.
5.) Toggle “Must see content” to Yes.
6.) Click Save Changes.
Marking content as Must-See helps highlight essential information, ensuring users don’t miss critical knowledge by surfacing it directly on the homepage.
