SKIP AHEAD TO: System Requirements for Spekit Compatibility & Technical Requirements Network & Security Requirements |
System Requirements for Spekit
The following are the minimum requirements for a system to run Spekit and its various components (Salesforce Add-on, Outlook Add-On, Chrome Extension).
Spekit Components:
Spekit has four primary components that users can use to interact with Spekit.
Minimum Requirements for Spekit Web App
Spekit’s minimum requirements are undemanding, and any system built within the last ten years should be able to run Spekit and its various components. Due to the low hardware requirements and their ubiquity, the following are the only system requirements our users need to worry about.
Hardware requirements:
- CPU: Any system from 2010 or later
- RAM: 2GB or above
- Storage: 4GB free space
- Display: 10” at 1366 x 768 resolution
Web Browser Requirements:
Minimum System Requirements for Spekit Chrome Extension
Operating System Requirements:
- Any browser-supported operating system.
Web Browser Requirements:
Minimum System Requirements for Spekit Outlook Add-In
Operating System Requirements:
- Windows 7 and later
- macOS (formerly OS X) 10.13 High Sierra
Outlook Requirements:
- Outlook 2016 or later on Mac
- Outlook on Mac (Microsoft 365)
- Outlook on Windows (Microsoft 365)
- Outlook on the web
Salesforce Integration
Salesforce Classic:
This has no minimum requirements beyond the ones defined for Web App.
Salesforce Lightning:
Salesforce Lightning is the new Salesforce experience that has more demanding system requirements. As such, the following are the hardware requirements for it.
- CPU: Intel 6th Generation and later with a minimum of four simultaneous threads (Core i5 or above), AMD Ryzen Mobile 3000 and later with a minimum of four simultaneous threads (Ryzen 3 2000 or above).
- RAM: 6GB RAM, with at least 3 GB free for Lightning tabs.
- Internet Speed: Minimum 4Mbps (megabits per second).
Compatibility & Technical Requirements
These technical requirements help you understand if your hardware and network can provide a satisfactory and productive user experience. We strongly recommend testing the actual end-user experience with a configuration identical to what you expect to use in production.
Test using the same settings and conditions: location, hardware, OS, browser, network, and a load of users. Use it with your Salesforce production or other critical tool environments.
Spekit's officially supported web browsers are: Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge (Chromium)
Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Explorer are not supported.
Given that Spekit for Salesforce is an important use case, for Spekit to work seamlessly, we recommend adhering to the Salesforce Lightning Console Technical Requirements for your Spekit use case.
This translates to the following Technical Requirement Recommendations.
For the fastest and most stable experience, we recommend the following:
- An Octane score of 30,000
- Network latency of 150 ms or lower
- Download speed of 3 Mbps or higher
- At least 8 GB of RAM, with 3 GB available for Spekit browser tabs
The minimum requirements are:
- An Octane score of 20,000
- Network latency of 200 ms or lower
- Download speed of 1 Mbps
- At least 5 GB of RAM, with 2 GB available for Spekit browser tabs.
To use Spekit Chrome Extension:
- In addition to the general requirements above, we require users to be on the latest Chrome version, which can be downloaded here.
- Using newer-generation hardware with faster CPUs generates higher Octane and Octane 2.0 scores, leading to improved performance.
- Please note that Spekit for Chrome's "Enable help" auto-embed feature works with most web applications. Still, due to the wide variety of implementations, we cannot guarantee that it will support every website or Web App out there. Please test with the set of Web Apps you plan to use with Spekit!
To use Spekit's Outlook Extension:
- In addition to the general requirements, we require users to be on Outlook 365 to download the extension directly from the webstore (if their admin allows).
- To use Spekit with the Outlook 2016 version, please contact us.
Using Spekit with Salesforce Classic and VisualForce:
- While Spekit is compatible with standard Salesforce Classic pages and most Visualforce pages, given the iterations of Visualforce pages that exist, we cannot guarantee that Spekit for Chrome icons will work on every implementation of VisualForce.
- We recommend testing with your key use cases to simulate how Spekit works for you.
Using Spekit with custom Lightning components:
- While Spekit is compatible with standard Salesforce Lightning pages and most custom lightning components, given the variety of custom components, we cannot guarantee that Spekit for Chrome icons will work on every implementation of custom components.
- We recommend testing with your key use cases to simulate how Spekit works for you.
Using Spekit icons on components with a hefty load is not recommended. We recommend using our "enable" and "disable" toggle to manage the user experience for these pages.
