[Rep Guide] Connect a Trackable Link to a Salesforce Opportunity

This is the step that makes Revenue Insights work for your Trackable Links. When you connect a Trackable Link to a Salesforce opportunity, the engagement it generates resolves to that deal, so you and your team can see the pipeline and revenue it influences. If you skip this step, that data does not exist. This guide covers connecting the opportunity as you create the link.

ℹ️ Why this matters: Influenced pipeline revenue and influenced revenue won are calculated from the opportunities tied to your Trackable Links. Connecting the opportunity is what turns engagement into pipeline you can measure, for your own reporting and for the whole team's content performance data. For Deal Rooms, see Connect a Deal Room to a Salesforce Opportunity.

1. Connect a Trackable Link

Connect the opportunity as you create the link.

  1. Open the piece of content you want to create a Trackable Link for.
  2. Click Share, then Share externally.
  3. On the Create Trackable Link page, find the company field.
  4. Select an opportunity for that company, then finish creating the link.

ℹ️ How the dropdown is ordered: Options are prioritized by recent activity in Salesforce and opportunities where you are the owner, so the deal you are working is usually near the top.

2. A tip for existing customers

For a current customer, do not just select the customer account name. Instead, target their future renewal opportunity. That way you can still track influenced pipeline and opportunity data on the Trackable Link, even though it is an existing account.

💡 Pro tip: Make selecting the opportunity part of how you create every Trackable Link, not something you go back and fix later. Engagement that happened before an opportunity was connected is harder to attribute, so connect it up front and your reporting stays clean from the first view.

💡 Pro tip: For renewals and expansions, always point at the renewal or expansion opportunity rather than the account. It keeps your influenced-pipeline number tied to a real, open deal instead of a closed one.
