Have questions about Gong and Spekit integration? Weβre here to help! Common questions about what the connector does and how it works.
π Quick-Jump Topics
General
Do users need to connect Gong themselves?
β No. Once an admin connects Gong on the Connections page, individual users do not need to act, as long as they have active Gong and Spekit licenses and the Sidekick (Chrome Extension) v2025.44.3 or later.
Who can connect Gong?
Only a Spekit Account Admin can reach the Connections page and connect Gong. Team Admins, Experts, and Viewers cannot manage integrations. The admin completing setup must also be the Gong Technical Administrator, or invite the Gong Technical Administrator into the Spekit instance.
Does search return the full body of a Spek or asset?
β Yes. Using the AI Content Builder, you can add a synced Gong call as context and generate a new Spek or Topic grounded in that conversation. You can also update existing content the same way, including deal room templates, so something like a follow-up template stays in step with what was discussed on the call. Experts and Admins can do this. Viewers who have access to a deal room can create and update content within that deal room only. See Article 3 for the steps.
What you see
How do I check which extension version I have?
Open a new browser tab and go to chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode in the top right, and find Spekit. The version number shows under the Spekit name. You need v2025.44.3 or later to see Gong calls in Sidekick. To update, click Update in the top left of that same page, or remove and reinstall the Sidekick (Chrome Extension) from the Chrome Web Store.
Who can see my calls?
Reps see only recent external calls, with customers or prospects, where they were a host or participant, identified by their email. Spekit Account Admins currently have admin-level access and can see all imported calls.
What does "recent calls" mean?
Sidekick shows the 3 most recent external calls where you were a participant. If there are none this week, it shows the last 3 from the most recent week with calls.
Which calls do not appear?
Internal calls, calls that happened before the integration was connected, calls where you were not a host or participant, and calls that Gong is still processing.
If Gong is connected, will Spekit users without a Gong license see their meetings?
β Yes. Any Spekit user who was a host or participant of an external meeting will see it in Sidekick.
Why does the Account Admin sometimes see more calls than other users?
Spekit Account Admins currently have admin-level access and can see all imported calls.
If Gong is connected, will Spekit users without a Gong license see their meetings?
β Not yet. Search may be added in a future release.
Can I copy the Gong recording link from Sidekick?
β Not directly. Open the recording from Sidekick and copy the URL from your browser's address bar.
Timing and data
When will Gong calls start populating?
After connection, Sidekick surfaces insights from new calls going forward. Historical calls are not synced.
What if call data is delayed?
Ingestion is near real-time, but it can take 10 minutes to 1 hour for the recording to go live and the transcript and summary to be fully processed in Gong.
Do I need Salesforce connected?
For the deal-specific matching in Gmail, yes. Sidekick uses your Salesforce data to link the person you are emailing to an account. Without Salesforce, Gmail shows your 3 most recent calls overall instead of account-specific ones.
Are Gong insights available in the Spekit Add-In for Outlook Desktop?
β Not yet. This may be added in a future release.
Will other call tools like Chorus or Outreach Kaia be supported?
β Not at this time. If there is a specific tool you would like us to support, let your CSM know which one, or vote on new integrations in Canny so we can gauge demand and prioritize accordingly.
