Reading & Writing Content
Does listing my topics return my full topic and subtopic hierarchy?
One level at a time. It returns top-level topics with their direct subtopics. If a subtopic has its own subtopics, ask your AI tool to get that subtopic by id to see what is nested inside it.
Does search return the full body of a Spek or asset?
✅ Yes. For natively authored Speks, and for imported and synced file assets such as PDFs, slide decks, and external documents, the body is included in search results.
Finding Content
Can I use the connector to read and write content in Spekit?
✅ Yes. The connector supports both reads and writes. You can search content, create and update Speks, and create topics, deal rooms, and companies.
Can I edit content that already exists, or only create new content?
Both, for Speks. You can update a Spek's title, body, or topic assignment. Topics, companies, and deal rooms are create-only through the connector. Editing or deleting those is not supported yet.
Can I create content from one of my company's templates?
✅ Yes. List your company's templates, get a specific template's body and fill instructions, then create content from it. This keeps new content in your established layout instead of a blank page.
What is the difference between create content and create deal room content?
Where the Spek lives. Create content makes a Spek inside a topic in your main Spekit knowledge base. Create deal room content makes a Spek inside a specific deal room, tied to that deal's company context.
What happens if a write operation fails?
You get a real error. The connector returns a message describing what went wrong, rather than a generic failure. Write operations are validated before anything is saved.
Access & Permissions
Does the connector respect my Spekit role and permissions?
✅ Yes. Access through the connector matches your existing Spekit role. It is the same set of permissions that apply inside Spekit itself, not a separate or broader grant.
Where does connector activity show up?
In your usual dashboards. Calls made through the connector appear in your admin dashboard and in Spekit's analytics, in context. This is the same visibility you have into other ways your team uses Spekit.
Plans, Cost & Availability
How much does it cost?
It is included free. The capabilities in this release come with every Spekit account at no extra cost. There is no separate seat to buy and no add-on to enable. Anyone with an active Spekit login can use it.
Do I have to use Claude, or can I connect this to another AI tool?
Any tool with custom connectors. Any AI tool that supports adding a custom MCP connector by URL can connect to Spekit. This includes Claude, ChatGPT, Salesforce Agentforce, Gemini CLI, Codex CLI, and Gong. See Spekit MCP Overview & Setup for tool-specific steps.
Why isn't the connector in the AI tool marketplaces yet?
You do not need to wait for it. The connector works today with any AI tool that supports a custom connector by URL. A marketplace listing is mainly about discoverability. It does not change how the connection works or how secure it is. Spekit is in the process of submitting to the marketplaces, and timing depends on each marketplace's own review queue.
