📌 Quick-Jump Topics
1. The Value: Instant, Contextual Follow-Up
Connect Gong to Spekit to unlock real-time, unified deal intelligence where your reps work.
Timely, relevant follow-up keeps deals moving, but reps often lose momentum and critical deal details when switching between Gong, their CRM, and email. Connecting Gong to Spekit brings call insights directly into AI Sidekick so your team has the context they need the moment they need it.
Why Admins Should Connect Gong
Increase rep productivity and consistency by putting high quality call insights directly in their daily workflows.
- Improve follow-up accuracy by reducing the risk of missed details and outdated notes.
- Maintain deal momentum by giving reps the context they need to act quickly, thoroughly, and confidently.
Why Connect Now
Connecting Gong now gives your reps real-time Gong insights today and your organization first access to the AI-powered deal execution capabilities coming next. As we continue evolving our AI strategy, having Gong data connected positions your organization for:
- More proactive and intelligent deal coaching based on call, workflow, and deal context—all within AI Sidekick
- More automated, deal-aware content creation with assets instantly added to Deal Rooms
- More context-aware insights that reduce manual follow-up work
While our long-term AI roadmap is still evolving, the Spekit + Gong connection creates the foundation for more intelligent, personalized AI capabilities. By pairing call intelligence with CRM and enablement context, Spekit will be able to tackle the core challenges in deal execution: manual follow-up workflows, fragmented deal context across tools, inconsistent rep execution, and the need for smarter, moment-in-time guidance based on each rep’s live conversations.

2. Key Functionality: What Reps See in AI Sidekick
Contextual Experience in Gmail
When drafting an email in Gmail, AI Sidekick ensures maximum context by prioritizing relevant calls based on the ‘To’ field and Salesforce Account data.
- Prioritization Logic: Sidekick automatically matches the email recipient to their associated Salesforce Account and immediately displays recent Gong calls related to that specific account.
- Default View: If Spekit is unable to match the email address to a Contact (linked to a Salesforce Account), Sidekick defaults to showing the user’s three most recent calls overall.
Dynamic Call Insight Delivery
AI Sidekick dynamically surfaces the following information, pulled directly from Gong, for your recent external calls:
- Call Recap: A summary of the conversation.
- Key Points: Highlights of major discussion topics.
- Next Steps: Actionable items agreed upon during the call.
- Direct Access: Users can easily open the full Gong call recording directly from AI Sidekick to review the transcript.
Sidekick displays up to three of your most recent external calls where you were a participant or host.
3. Integration Setup (Admin Required)
Integration Prerequisites and Connection Steps
The integration requires a one-time configuration by a Spekit Account Admin who must coordinate with the Gong Technical Administrator. These steps should take no longer than 5-10 minutes to complete.
🔍 Need to find your Gong Admin?
- In Gong, click your profile avatar and select My settings.
- Scroll to Technical administrators and click Show All.
- Click the admin's name to email them.
Spekit will walk you through the connection flow in-product. If you prefer or need extra clarity, the step-by-step guide below is available anytime.
- Ensure the Spekit Account Admin completing the setup is also the Gong Technical Administrator, or has their credentials ready. Coordination is essential to finalize the connection.
- Open the Spekit Web App, navigate to Settings, and click the Connections page.
- Locate the Gong tile and click the Connect button.
- Log in to Gong when prompted to complete the authentication using the appropriate Admin account. A pop-up for linking your Gong account will appear, click the Connect button. Another pop-up will appear asking you to Allow Spekit to gain access to your Gong account.
- Click the Complete Gong Setup button in Spekit. This will open a configuration window with required fields and helpful directions to finalize the connection setup.
-
In Gong, open the Admin Center, navigate to the Ecosystem section, and click Automation Rules.
-
Click Add Rule.
-
Input the Spekit Connection URL into the "Enter URL" field under Rule Action (this URL can be found in the Complete Gong Setup settings in Spekit).
- Enable “Signed JWT header,” click “Show public key,” and copy the key to your clipboard.
-
Paste the Gong Signed JWT header public key into the designated field in the Complete Gong Setup settings in Spekit.
-
Name your rule (e.g., “Spekit Connection”) and enable Rule Status (make sure the rule is enabled).
- Go back to the Spekit configuration settings and click Save & Connect Gong.
-
A green pop-up should appear confirming the connection. You can now click the X at the top of the pop-up to complete setup.
- Click the Test Now button in Gong and select a call to test the connection. If the test fails, check the configuration. Otherwise, click Save.
⚠️ Troubleshooting Tip
Sometimes the Gong system needs a page refresh to confirm the rule status. After saving, navigate back to the Automation Rules and refresh your page to ensure the green checkmark is still present and the rule is enabled. If issues persist, please reach out to support@spekit.co.
Post-Setup User Enablement
Once the connection is established:
- Seamless User Enablement: All users with valid Gong and Spekit licenses (Chrome Extension v2025.44.3+) are automatically enabled. No individual user setup is needed.
- Data Sync: Real-time Gong ingestion is enabled, ensuring timely delivery of call insights.
4. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
This section addresses common questions from end-users regarding visibility, data recency, and access limitations for Gong call insights in AI Sidekick.
Who can see my calls?
Sales reps (non-admins) will only view recent external calls (with customers/prospects) where they were a participant or host (identified by their email address).
What does "Recent Calls" mean?
Sidekick shows the three most recent external calls where the user was a participant. If no new calls have occurred this week, it displays the last three from the most recent week with calls.
Can I search for calls in Sidekick?
Not in this initial launch version. Search functionality may be added in a future roadmap release.
Can I copy the Gong recording link?
While you cannot copy the Gong link from within Sidekick, you can easily open the Gong recording directly and copy the URL from your browser's address bar.
What if the call data is delayed?
Gong ingestion is near real-time, but it may take 10 minutes to an hour for the Gong recording to go live and for the transcript/summary to be fully uploaded and analyzed.
Are Gong insights available in the Spekit Add-In for Outlook Desktop?
Gong insights are not yet available in the Outlook Desktop experience, but may be added in a future roadmap release.
Why are my Gong calls not pulling in based on the ‘To field’?
| Scenario Description | Expected Behavior |
|---|---|
| Email draft with an Email Address (e.g., [Name]@acme.com) that’s connected to a Salesforce Contact (and linked to a Salesforce Account) | Only “Acme” specific calls should surface. |
| Email draft is modified by changing to a different Email Address (e.g., [Name]@wayneco.com) that’s also connected to a Salesforce Contact (and linked to a Salesforce Account) | Only “Wayne Co” specific calls should surface. |
| Email draft is modified by deleting the Email Address | 3 most recent calls (from any Account) should now resurface – default view. |
| Same as above, but Email draft is Closed/Re-opened | Default "Recent Calls" should show up after closing / re-opening Chrome Extension. |
| Draft with Multiple Email Addresses, at least One is Recognized (e.g., recognized@dundermifflin.com, other@other.com) | Specific calls related to the recognized account (dundermifflin.com) show up. |
Known issue:
| Scenario Description | Expected Behavior | Observed Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Draft with an Email Address for an Unrecognized Contact / Unconnected Account (e.g., [Name]@[WrongDomain].com) | Default "Recent Calls" (last three calls) should show up. | Nothing showed up initially. |
When will Gong calls start populating for end users?
Once Gong is connected, AI Sidekick will start surfacing call insights from new calls going forward. Historical calls won’t be synced or displayed.
If your Gong instance is connected to your Spekit instance, will Spekit users (who do not have Gong licenses) still see meetings where they were a participant in Sidekick?
Yes – all Spekit users (with or without a Gong license) who are either a host or participant of an external-facing meeting will see those meetings surface in Sidekick!
Why does the Spekit Account Admin sometimes see more calls than other users?
Spekit Account Admins currently have admin-level access and can therefore see all imported calls.
Do users need to connect Gong themselves after the admin sets up the integration? No.
Once an admin connects Gong and Spekit on the Connections page (which is only accessible by Spekit Account Admins), individual users do not need to take any action — as long as they have active licenses for both Gong and Spekit and a Chrome Extension version v2025.44.3 (or later).
NOTE: The Spekit Account Admin completing setup must either also be the Gong Technical Administrator or invite the Gong Technical Administrator into their Spekit instance in order to finalize the Gong x Spekit connection.
Which Gong calls can users see in Spekit?
Sales reps (non-admins): Can view recent external calls (calls with customers or prospects) where they were a participant or host, identified by their email address.
Will other call intelligence tools (like Chorus or Outreach Kaia) be supported?
Not at launch. Support for additional tools will be prioritized in the future roadmap.
