What Happens If I Update the Data Type of a Field in Salesforce?
How does a field data type change in Salesforce affect Spekit?
Upon re-sync, Spekit will reflect the updated data type for the field.
What Happens If I Add a New Object, Field, or Picklist Value in Salesforce?
Does Spekit automatically pick up new Salesforce content?
Changes made in Salesforce are not automatically synced to Spekit. You must manually trigger a sync to pull new information into Spekit.
Behavior upon re-sync:
- New Objects: New objects will appear in the Manage Objects section (accessible from Accounts) for you to import.
- New Fields: New fields belonging to previously imported objects will appear as new terms in the Data Wiki.
-
New Picklist Values:
- For picklist values you haven't imported yet - the updated list of available values will be shown for import upon re-sync.
- For picklist values you have already imported - new additions to that picklist are not currently pulled in automatically on re-sync. An upcoming fix will detect newly added values in a previously imported picklist and auto-import them.
What Happens If I Change an Object, Field, or Picklist API Name in Salesforce?
What happens in Spekit when an API name is changed in Salesforce?
Spekit uses the API Name as the unique identifier when importing terms. If you change the API Name or Name of an object, field, or picklist value in Salesforce, Spekit will treat it as a brand new item upon re-sync and create a second term with the new API Name. The original term will remain in Spekit unchanged.
What Happens If I Change the Label of an Existing Object, Field, or Picklist in Salesforce?
How does a label change in Salesforce affect the associated Spek in Spekit?
Upon re-sync, Spekit will automatically update the label of the associated term to reflect the change made in Salesforce.
What Happens If I Delete an Object, Field, or Picklist Value in Salesforce?
Will deleting something in Salesforce remove it from Spekit?
❌ No. The associated Spekit terms remain unchanged in the Data Wiki even after the item is deleted in Salesforce. You will need to manually manage or hide those terms in Spekit if needed.
