[Admin Guide] Connect Notion

Connect your Notion workspace to Spekit so your team can sync pages and find them in the flow of work. You choose exactly which Notion pages Spekit can access.

ℹ️ Before you start: Notion opens a pop-up during connection. Make sure your browser does not block pop-ups. You will also choose which Notion workspace to connect and which pages to share.

1. How to connect Notion

There are two ways to start the connection. Both are available to Account Admins, Team Admins, and Experts.

Option 1: From + Add New

1. Open the Spekit Hub (Web App). 

2. Click the Team Hub button, then + Add New. 

3. Select File Sync. 

4. Open the Notion tab, then click Connect Notion.

5. In the Link Notion Account pop-up, click Connect. A Notion window opens. (If nothing opens, check that pop-ups are allowed) 

6. In the Connect with Spekit window, choose the workspace to connect from the Select workspace dropdown. You can connect more than one workspace if you need pages from several. 

7. Review the permissions Spekit will have, then click Select pages to access. 

8. Click + Add pages & databases, then search for and select the top-level Notion pages you want to sync. Select at least one to continue. Spekit can only access the pages you select here. You can change this later from within Notion. 

9. Click Allow access. 

10. When you see the Success screen, your Notion integration is set up. Close the tab.

Option 2: From Settings

1. Open the Spekit Hub (Web App).
2. Click Settings (the gear icon), then Connect.
3. Find the Notion card, then click Connect.

4. In the Link Notion Account pop-up, click Connect. A Notion window opens. (If nothing opens, check that pop-ups are allowed) 

5. In the Connect with Spekit window, choose the workspace to connect from the Select workspace dropdown. You can connect more than one workspace if you need pages from several. 

6. Review the permissions Spekit will have, then click Select pages to access. 

7. Click + Add pages & databases, then search for and select the top-level Notion pages you want to sync. Select at least one to continue. Spekit can only access the pages you select here. You can change this later from within Notion.

8. Click Allow access. 

9. When you see the Success screen, your Notion integration is set up. Close the tab.

ℹ️ NOTE: Notion requires you to grant access at the top-level page. Anything nested under a page you grant is automatically accessible, so you do not need to add every sub-page by hand.

2. What Spekit can access

When you connect, Notion shows the access Spekit will have. Spekit can:

Access is limited to the specific pages you select at connection. Notion does not share your whole workspace.

3. Change which pages Spekit can access

You can change which Notion pages Spekit can access after connecting. How you do it depends on your Notion plan.

On any Notion plan (page by page):

To give Spekit access to a page: 

1. Open the page in Notion
2. Click the ••• menu at the top right
3. Choose Add connections
4. Select Spekit.

To remove Spekit from a page:

1. Open the page
2. Click the ••• menu
3. Find Spekit under Connections
4. Hover over it, and click Disconnect.

On Notion Enterprise (workspace owners):

Workspace owners can manage page access from one place.

1. Go to Settings → Connections.
2. Open the Manage tab and click the ••• next to Spekit.
3. Select Manage page access.
4. Under Select pages, choose the pages Spekit can access.
5. Under Who can manage page access, choose who is allowed to connect or disconnect Spekit at the page level.

ℹ️ Note: On Enterprise plans, adding or removing connections and page access can be restricted to workspace owners. If you cannot change it, contact your Notion workspace owner. For the latest steps, see Notion's guide, Add & manage connections.

ℹ️ Note: After you change access in Notion, Spekit reflects the change on its next sync, about once an hour. Pages you remove drop out of Spekit; pages you add become available to sync.

💡 Pro Tip: Grant Spekit a well-organized top-level page and let its sub-pages come along, rather than adding pages one at a time. When the team adds a new sub-page under it, Spekit can pick it up without another trip to Notion settings.

4. How to disconnect

Disconnecting stops future syncing. Content already imported stays in Spekit.

From + Add New

1. Open the Spekit Hub (Web App).
2. Click Team Hub, then + Add New, then File Sync.
3. Open the Notion tab, then click Disconnect.

From Settings

1. Open the Spekit Hub (Web App).
2. Click Settings, then Connect.
3. Find the Notion card, then click Disconnect.

You can also remove Spekit from your connected apps in Notion.
