[Rep Guide] Using Gong in the AI Sidekick

When your admin connects Gong to Spekit, Spekit AI Sidekick shows your recent calls right where you work. You can follow up faster, personalize outreach with real buyer language, and move deals forward without switching between Gong, your CRM, email, and notes.

🔑 Before you start: Your Spekit Account Admin connects the integration first. Past meetings are not seeded, so you will see the Gong section in Sidekick only after your next meeting finishes analyzing in Gong. You also need active Gong and Spekit licenses and the Sidekick (Chrome Extension) v2025.44.3 or later.

1. What you'll see

When Gong is connected, Sidekick automatically surfaces your most actionable call data. You will see your 3 most recent external calls where you were the host or a participant.

Click View Details on a call to open:

  • Recap — a summary of the conversation
  • Key Moments — the highlights, including objections and challenges that came up
  • Next Steps — the commitments agreed on in the meeting
  • A link to the full Gong recording when you need it

2. Where your calls show up

Sidekick shows the right calls based on where you are working:

Where you areWhat Sidekick showsHow to use it
GmailCalls tied to the contact you are emailing, for contacts on an active Salesforce accountPersonalize your follow-up, reflect the pain and commitments from the call, and paste Next Steps cleanly
SalesforceYour 3 most recent callsUpdate Opportunities faster, validate the stage, and paste call recaps into notes without rewatching
LinkedIn or any tabYour 3 most recent callsMulti-thread confidently by referencing what the team already shared with the account

ℹ️ Gmail matching needs Salesforce. The deal-specific matching in Gmail uses your connected Salesforce data to link the recipient to an account. If Salesforce is not connected, Sidekick cannot match by account and instead shows your 3 most recent calls overall.

3. How to use it to move a deal

  1. Open AI Sidekick where you are working, in Gmail, Salesforce, LinkedIn, or any tab.
  2. Find the call you want in the Gong section.
  3. Click View Details to see the Recap, Key Moments, and Next Steps.
  4. Copy what you need into your email or CRM note, or open the full recording for exact quotes.

Example: After a discovery call, open Sidekick in Gmail, click View Details, and paste the agreed Next Steps into your follow-up. Mirror the buyer's own words on their top challenge so the message lands. You can send a crisp, accurate follow-up in a couple of minutes instead of rewatching the call.

4. Turn your calls into content

You can turn what was said on a call into reusable content, or update content you already have. Using the AI Content Builder, your synced Gong calls can be added as context to generate a Spek or a Topic description, or to update an existing Spek, Topic, or deal room template, grounded in the actual conversation. Experts and Admins can create and update Speks and Topics this way, and Viewers who have access to a deal room can create and update content within that deal room only.

5. When to use it

Three moments where this saves you real time:

  • Following up after a discovery call. Pull the recap and Next Steps immediately and send a crisp follow-up in minutes.
  • Updating an opportunity. Confirm the stage, validate the pain, and paste commitments into Salesforce notes.
  • Looping in a new stakeholder. Reference real buyer language so your outreach lands with credibility.

6. Best practices

A few habits get the most out of Gong in Sidekick. Each is small on its own, but together they save time on every deal and make your follow-ups sharper.

Best practiceWhy it matters
Follow up while the context is hotThe recap and Next Steps are right there. Acting the same day, before the details fade, is when a buyer is most likely to respond.
Mirror the buyer's own languageReusing the words the buyer used for their pain and goals lands better than a generic follow-up, and it shows them you were listening.
Paste Next Steps directlyCopying the agreed Next Steps is faster and more accurate than rewriting from memory, and it keeps both sides aligned on what happens next.
Open the recording for exact detailWhen you need a precise number, a competitor mention, or an exact commitment, the full Gong recording is one click from the call.
Confirm Salesforce is connectedIn Gmail, account matching relies on Salesforce. With it connected you get calls tied to the exact contact, instead of just your 3 most recent overall.
Review before your next call, not just afterSkimming the last call's recap and Next Steps before your next meeting keeps continuity and shows the buyer you remember what was said.

7. Good to know

A few things that shape what you will and will not see, so nothing catches you off guard.

Good to knowWhat it means
Which calls appearOnly external calls, with customers or prospects, where you were the host or a participant, up to your 3 most recent. Internal calls do not appear.
No Gong licenseYou still see external meetings where you were the host or a participant, even if you do not have a Gong license.
New calls onlyPast calls are not seeded. You see calls from after your admin connected Gong, going forward.
Processing delayIngestion is near real-time, but it can take 10 minutes to 1 hour for Gong to finish the recording, transcript, and summary before a call appears.
No search yetYou cannot search your calls in Sidekick yet. This may come in a future release.
Sharing a recordingYou cannot copy the link directly. Open the recording from Sidekick and copy the URL from your browser's address bar.
Don't see Sidekick?Install or update the Sidekick (Chrome Extension) to v2025.44.3 or later.
Integration not enabled?Ask your Spekit Admin to connect Gong.
