How do I search for Picklist values in the Chrome Extension?

Spekit allows you to import and document your Salesforce picklist values. Once documented, you can effortlessly search for these in the Spekit Chrome Extension.

You can search for Picklist Values using the Spekit Chrome Extension.

Search for the Picklist Value, and click the Picklist Value to view its details.

Are system fields like “Last Modified On” imported?

To avoid crowding out of the Wiki with system fields that don’t need definitions or explanations, we auto-hide any Salesforce system fields and frequently occurring fields by default.

 

If you’d like to un-hide these fields, go to filters and toggle on “Show hidden terms.” Now you’ll be able to see the hidden fields and click the “eye” icon to unhide the ones you want.

 

Exception: This only applies to newly imported objects as of August 15, 2018.

 

It didn’t apply to imported objects before we released this enhancement (pre-August 15, 2018).

 

If you’d like to hide these fields please search > bulk select > mark as hidden.

 

What happens if a field is renamed in Salesforce?

To sync any changes in Salesforce to Spekit, you must manually perform a Sync.

 

  • If a "Field Label" is changed in Salesforce, the Spek label will be updated after the manual sync is completed.
  • If a "Field Name" is changed in Salesforce, a new Spek will be created after the manual sync is completed.

 

Does the Spek Label need to be an exact match of the actual term?

Yes. The label of a Spek must be exactly the same as the term for Spekit to find an exact match and display help text alongside the term.

 

Will Spekit have access to personal data?

No, Spekit only syncs metadata for objects and fields.

 

Can I migrate my Spekit UAT environment to a Production environment?

Content can be moved between environments. All other data, including analytics, cannot be migrated at this time.

 

Can I connect my Production Salesforce to multiple Spekit accounts?

No, this is a 1-to-1 connection.

What are the known limitations of Spek icons?

There are known limitations with Spek icons appearing on certain components of Salesforce. Spek icons may not appear or may be inconsistent on:

  • Text within Related Lists
  • Dashboards and Reports

 

How does the Viewer role differ for field Speks?

In Spekit, the Account Admin can see and do everything.  

1.) Account Admin - this is what they see on a field Spek for the Rating field on the Account object in Salesforce.

  • Notice the Account Admin can view the METADATA section on the field Spek.

2.) Viewer - this is what they see on a field Spek for the Rating field on the Account object in Salesforce. 

  • Viewers can only view the field Spek Definition, Business Process if one has been added, and Picklist Values if the field has them. For Picklist Values to be available, the Account Admin has to import and define them.
  • The Viewer role will also be able to view any other media, such as embedded videos, documents, images, links, etc.
